The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom

Also if you don't truly fear God then you must not understand who He is and what true power He holds. This is the Creator of everything, He holds the world in His hands. He has the power to make us stop breathing, He has the power to wipe out the entire population and He would be just in doing so because of who He is. We all have sinned, we all are condemned to death by our sin.
Who are we the created to question He who created?
Well he's behind schedule on causing fear because our world has already became a shithole

I think fear of the Lord is knowing without Him, because I can't fulfill the law, I am screwed. I need the gift of grace, freely given and received to receive mercy. I also think it is knowing if we truly desire to be separate from Him, He will allow it. Thy will be done is a two way street. I know I can't achieve anything close to fulfilling the lawful requirements to enter paradise and I know He wouldn't make me be with Him if I didn't want to. I think the current state of our world is evident of how what we want.

Nah, He’s on His schedule. Also if you read the Bible then you know what is to come. It says that in the end times that man will be as evil as in the days of Noah. Imagine how evil man must have been to where God said alright let’s restart with 8 people.

I believe that story as much as I believe the SC Gamecocks will win the College football playoffs this coming season.

"Fear the Lord" in the Bible and other religious contexts typically means having profound awe, deep reverence, and respect for God, rather than being terrified. It signifies acknowledging God’s supreme power, holiness, and authority, which leads to loving obedience, humble worship, and a desire to avoid evil, serving as the foundation for wisdom and right living.

Lost? Not hardly. I know my Shepherds voice. His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

Why do you feel the way you do about Christians?

The way many act and try to ram their views down the throats of others...and many of those views are insane... like a cult, or ultra left libs. I'm an equal opportunity bullshit caller.

I don’t see anyone on this thread “trying to ram” our Christian views down anyone’s throat. You came on here and decided it was important enough to share your own thoughts and views. Kinda like ramming your opinion down our throats.

Did you not know that opening a Christian thread was going to be full of Scripture? Why didn’t you just scroll on by? Was it that important enough to you that you felt the need to push your opinions on everyone else?

The thread title alone is enough to feel "cultish".

Well @KenLee I’m sorry you feel that way. If you’d ever like to talk more about it or ask more questions this thread will obviously be long open.

For the rest of ya fellas, today’s reading in Isaiah brought me to 29:13.

“Then the Lord said, “Because this people approaches Me with their words And honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me, And their reverence for Me consists of the commandment of men that is taught;”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭29‬:‭13‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

I’m praying that today and each day I am drawing near to Him in my heart. I don’t want to just tell people I know Jesus, I want them to know because of my character. And that my reverence for Him is not instructed by mere words from ancestors past but in true awe of who He is. Through gratitude and acknowledgment, possessing an understanding of my place.

One of the most profound verses in Isaiah for me is 6:8

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!””
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭6‬:‭8

Seeking to live our lives through action and deed and only when necessary use words!

And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? 14But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” 15But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. 17For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
1 Peter 3:13-17.

Our Bible study this morning was on 1 Peter 3. One constant theme I have picked up on most of the new testament scriptures is how to suffer for God and how God will sustain us through suffering. I have experienced the joy and peace of God while also suffering and I would have it no other way. Through Christ all things are possible, He is the everlasting life. The word of God is alive and moving. I constantly think of Job and how God was bragging about Job to the devil, really puts that whole book into a different perspective. May we all strive to have a faith like Job where God Himself is smiling at us.

God bragging about Job, while obvious in the text, is something I have never thought deeply about.
Thank you for this prospective! I needed that today.

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

This whole book is so intertwined together it’s crazy. There is no other explanation than it being the word of God. Honestly I can’t get enough.

If we lack wisdom, we ask God for wisdom. What is wisdom?
Wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge, experience, understanding, and insight to make sound, ethical, and effective decisions in complex life situations.

When we pray and ask God for wisdom we are praying for God to allow situations in our lives where we can APPLY His word! We are essential praying for a harder life so God can expose us to His will and word.
