The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom

This is an interesting thread with a lot of different view points and opinions.

Adult film documentary maker/actress Brandi Luv said on the Hodge Twins podcast that made sense to me, she said, who are we to judge her for what she does, that’s between her and her maker and she’s going to answer for what she did in her life on judgement day. She is a devout Christian, which seems ass backwards given her religious beliefs.

I have my own relationship with Jesus and have my own testimony, all our relationships and testimonies are different and unique to us.

I look at it as, I can introduce someone to Jesus but I cannot and will not force Jesus on someone. It’s like an alcoholic, an alcoholic can’t get help until they want help, I look at Christianity the same, you can’t save someone who doesn’t want to be saved.

While I know some will agree and disagree with my views, that’s fine, but like I have previously said, I’m not here to force Jesus or God on anyone, just to say I believe and have my own relationship with Him.

I know. But you've shown that if you did believe in a God you would prefer one that that doesnt judge evil. Im saying that I wouldn't trust in a God that didn't.

Also if your going to believe that God doesnt exist please step off of your moral pedestal and go do whatever you want. If you really are living in a brand of atheism stop living by meaningless platitudes and moral constructs. Practice what you believe and and don't try and tell me what's just and unjust.

I don't do whatever I want, because I have a moral compass despite the fact that I don't believe in invisible sky dictators.

What meaningless platitudes and moral constructs are you referring to?

I do practice what I believe, and I believe in calling out injustice. If I saw a man being abused by a psychopathic power-hungry figure of authority, I would call it out.

Wouldn't you?

You’re only focusing on the first half of the book of Job and not the second half when God gives Job back everything he had but twice as much.

Not at all - I'm focusing on both halves and concluding that these are the actions of a psychopath. Jung wrote an entire book on it, Answer to Job, which I highly recommend.

Thank you to all those who disagree but don't get angry. If you have a spare 10 minutes, watch this video and see what you think. I'm an atheist but I've spent many, many hours reading the Bible so 10 minutes won't kill you.

I would. But why would you? Where does your morality come from? Yourself? Society? In a godless view, a man being abused by an authoritarian is just one piece of ferment being eaten by another. There is no reason to step in. Why jeopardize yourself? Where does intrinsic value in life come from? Who told you that you needed to step in? Animals don't have sophisticated moral compasess like humans do. Where did yours come from and why do you follow it? Does it just give you the warm fuzzies to follow it? If so, then it is a meaningless pile of platitudes and societal constructs designed to hold us back.

My Christian brothers and sisters,

Please keep in mind, our job is to witness and testify to His goodness, grace, mercy, and love. There are those who may stand against our viewpoint.

Please keep in mind, our job is neither to argue them into the Kingdom of heaven, nor save them ourselves. Their salvation is solely dependant upon their response to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. We may plant the seeds, we may even water them at times, but it is God that brings the growth.

Let us pray for the salvation of those who need it, but let us also endeavor to maintain our witness as ambassadors of Christ, and not be bogged down in foolish conversation that is not profitable for Kingdom work.

For those who may be truly seeking answers to questions that are genuine, not merely argumentative for arguments sake, please feel free to PM me. I may not be able to provide answers, but I will do what I can.

Others on here willing to engage in Kingdom work similarly, I would invite you to make the same offer.

But let us not let a post exalting God be drug down in to the mire where it does not belong.

Some comments require no reply and our praise of the King should be reflective of wisdom, love and empathy. Not the foolish arguments of naysayers who merely wish to goad us into foolish arguments.

I'm all about genuine, honest, questions. But, there are those who are playing games we do not need to play. Let us be discerning in our response, please.

As a Christian I'd like to see a valid argument for the "Christian nationalism" and idolatry that's currently effecting the United States. Worshipping politicians, celebrating the pain of immigrants, hating your neighbor, ECT. It doesn't fit anything I learned at church yet many have went down that path

What did Jesus say to the disciples when someone rejects Jesus?
Matthew 10:14
Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet.

Walk away.
To me, your doing it right. People need to see that your truly living a godly life and be drawn to want that, not have it forced down their throat.

I just did by posting it. Nothing against religion but this is a hunting site.

Guns, optics, tents, strategy. These are the topics.

Guess you need to go start your own hunting site then.
Free will, and a free country to boot.
I'd never tell you what to believe, and I sure would never tell you how to run your business.
Don't like the post, your free to move on, don't like the site, your free to move on, but since your here protesting, I'd say you got lots of hurt inside of you and you don't know how to handle it.
I hope one day you can find peace.

I would. But why would you?.

Because I think it's the right thing to do. Where does that morality come from? I can't say, but I can tell you it's not motivated by the promise of divine reward or the fear of divine punishment. If those are the only things that compel one to act in an appropriate manner then I figure I'd do well to stay far away from people like that.

A thought experiment by Hitchens on the idea that, without religion, we'd have no moral code:

If today or tomorrow in Palestine archaeologists stumble upon the remains of a man inside a cave, bearing spear marks etc., the myth collapses, there was no resurrection - what happens? Do we all start fornicating and killing each other in the streets?

Where did those feelings come from? Evolutionary instincts should be telling you to ignore those.
Man, keep going to church because you're going to be a scary person if you stop.

This is one of the worst apologetics I hear. "Well, if you don't believe in God where do morals come from?"

From caring about people real, actual human people. That I meet and talk to and interact with. And I could do things that can measurable improve or harm their lives.

I choose to do as much as possible to improve lives of those around me.

Thinking otherwise means you aren't ACTUALLY a good person, you're a psychopath afraid of eternal punishment. You're an obedient dog that is afraid to get on the couch for fear it'll get beat.
