The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom

**For the 2 that have reported this thread-stop.

This is under general discussion. If you don't care for it, keep scrolling on by. Given the amount of leeway of some of the very questionable stuff allowed on this forum, this is what gets reported??

Sorry for the interruption. Carry on!

You know what they say…. Some get spiritual cause they see the light, some cause they feel the heat 😎
Can’t see a reason to argue Christian values. No harm there, but you’re resistance is circumspect, why oppose something you don’t believe in??

I don't oppose religion because I don't believe in it, I oppose it because it is evil.

That's because you don't understand the word fear in this context it does not mean fear as in be scared. It's used in a way that means respect. "Respect and honor the Lord"

Do you think children understand the context?

Well I guess since it's almost July and we're all tired of arguing about which caliber, how far to shoot, R vs NR and all the usual, so now we're going to argue about religion.
Your prob right, but you may see some disappear real quick. The trolling and derailing is against our rules.

I will say thinking like this is what drives allot of people away from Christianity.
I must apologize if there was something inferred in my statement that would drive anyone away from Christianity. I only hold that Christ Himself and not Morality is the center of Christianity. (Which by definition is Christ-like)
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self control are the inseparable outcomes of Christ in someone but they hold no eternal weight apart from the finished work of Christ. My hope is in a God that accepts the finished work of His son (Hence Jesus’ quote that He is the way and the truth and the life and that no man comes to the Father apart from Him) rather than any work I might accomplish in myself.
C.S Lewis posed the Lord, Liar, or Lunatic argument and it is still a valid course of reasoning to consider today.
Again, my intent was to point TOWARD the hope we find in Jesus and in no way detract from the transformation He produces in the life of a believer and the fruit which comes as a by-product. (John 15) My apologies if I did otherwise.

Properly understanding scripture can be difficult. One, you are reading a translation, so words may not mean exactly what we think they would. Two, you don’t always know the audience. Three, scriptures are often parsed out in pieces, so context is lost by what preceded and followed the verse(s).

Regardless, everyone’s faith journey is their own.

John 3:16

Do you think children understand the context?
A child's understanding is dependent upon the teachers in their life. Regardless of my age I will always be a child of God because there will always be more for me to learn from His word.

I am curious do you oppose religion or church, maybe you clarified elsewhere that I missed.

Daily prayer thread would be great for this site and many in general. Since my kids could sit in a high chair I started reading them a children’s bible every morning during breakfast, and every night at bed time, then our nightly prayers.

They are sponges, they take in everything. Up to each and every parent to instill the Lords words and work within them, and let it guide them through life. Their is no greater mentor then the lord no matter what your age is.

We know that we belong to God, and the whole world is under the power of the evil one.
1 John 5:19

Why would we seek the validation of the world, if the world is under the power of the evil one?

That seems like a verse that could be misused to promote "holy war". The context really matters. Too many use the word as an excuse for sin instead of striving to be Christ like and confessing they've fallen short.

Ummm, no, your light-years away.
Example, world belongings, worldly pleasure, heavy alcohol or drug use. The statement is, just because the world says you should do that, or need that, you don't.

Nothing about war, period.

Context definitely matters, the devil himself takes scripture out of context when tempting Jesus. That's also our jobs as Christians to hold others accountable when things are taken out of context.
