As long as the barrel is 16” or longer, you can. There was actually a court case a while back (80s IIRC) because TC was selling a Contender kit that included a frame, a pistol barrel, a rifle barrel, and pistol and rifle furniture. The ATF said they couldn’t do that because someone could build a SBR. The court ruled that until it was actually built in that configuration it wasn’t illegal.

I had a few contender frames and a bunch of barrels thru the years. They were great guns. I killed several deer and hogs with a 10” 357 Maximum and a 14” 7-30 Waters. Mine had a toggle on the hammer where you could go from center fire to rimfire. 22 rimfire barrel topped with a fixed 4X Leupold was squirrel slaying machine.

If they reintroduce the Flex Tech stock, take a look. They are the best I have used.
