I've shared these on the Kifaru forum. Figured I'd share here as well. These pictures come from over the last four months. All in the Western Carolinas, a little of Eastern Tennessee.

That's a beautiful area. We are going to Gattlinburg in July driving down 85 to 40W. We went about 6 years ago and I swore if I went back I was hiking and bringing the fly rod.

I haven't been to Gatlinburg since the fire. Any word on how it's recovered?

I haven't heard, we were supposed to go the day after Christmas but the wife was freaking out about the fires and the aftermath so we did Williamsburg instead. It's sad that's for sure, from what I heard it hit the outskirts of town. Cade's Cove is a great spot and I will post up some pictures when we get back, last time we saw a lot of bears, elk and turkeys.

Nice man. Let us know how it goes. In the pics above, the one with all the frost, the ones over looking a large mountain range with what looks like low fog is actually smoke from the fires we were having a little while back. Bout the same time Gatlinburg fire started. That's why I didn't have my stove in the tarp in the snow, burn ban was still in affect. Anyway, just a little info on the pics.

I was wondering if that was smoke. I plan on hitting some trails but doubt I will overnight since the family will be with me and the wife's idea of camping is Holiday Inn ;)

Gatlinburg is a couple of hours away. They have been rebuilding quite frenetically. We have guys come into the shop quite frequently who are looking at joining a construction crew.
Last I knew the great majority of the trails had reopened, but I haven't been on the website or up there recently.

Thanks for the info on that, we are going in July this year. The last time we went was early May, looking forward to it !
