The Browning BLR

Shooting with this gun has really given me my love for shooting back.

There’s something more magical to shooting a lever action.

I might sell my bolts, they don’t give the same childlike joy. Life is too short to not enjoy what you like.

It’s interesting reading all the opinions on this gun. I don’t own one but have really looked at them, they’re nice looking. I would want a short action myself. Having said that I own several Winchester 1886 in 45-70. One is 1900 ish era, the other is a newer Turnbull with color case receiver. I love those guns. I will at some point hunt elk with it. To me you don’t buy a BLR to shoot past mpbr and even that is stretching it. I would not put a scope on it unless I couldn’t see well. I look at lever guns as classic old world weapons that bring a sense of nostalgia to the hunt. Comparing them to bolt guns makes no sense. A heavy trigger isn’t a deal breaker since the point is the relative primitive aspect of it and the challenges that represents. Get better at hunting and stalking and getting closer to game if you have a problem with it is my thinking. The long range thing has infected hunting so much that guys can’t separate out different tools for different approaches.

agreed. But a blr is kinda that redheaded step child of the lever gun IMO
