The Argali Clothing Project

I couldnt agree more. No need for mesh but the hip vents must be placed properly. The vents need to be an inch or two behind the midline of the outside of the leg. The design on these seems like it is really close to the right spot but moving the vent back an inch or two would be ideal. (See picture).

Having worn these extensively in hot weather, I feel confident they vent quite well and would strongly suggest trying them out to see how they vent. The way the zipper orients while sitting is different than how they orient while standing just due to pants shifting while you sit.

It for sure works for sticks and debris. I say this from using the Sitka Intercept pants, my current top pant. Look at the vent placing on them. However for the ticks yes mesh would be the only way keep them out.

Different strokes for different folks…

I’ve worn out a pair of Intercepts and a pair of SG pants neither of which have mesh. Same issues with both. Could just be the places I hunt…lots of very steep and very thick bushwhacking on a regular basis. Especially with snow in the vegetation, it’s a tough set of conditions for pants. I’ve also run Kuiu pants with mesh vents and never felt like the mesh significantly impeded ventilation, more the short length of their vent was the problem. The Argali pants seem to have addressed all of these issues, but we’ll find out soon!

I am excited to try them for sure as I havent found that perfect pant yet.

The original KUIU guide pants have much larger vents and the mesh is more open or has larger diameter holes. Combined with the large slash hand pockets that have the same mesh material you can get some serious ventilation.
I have used those pants a bunch and due to that ability to get rid of heat they can function in some pretty warm weather for their weight and warmth.
I have a few pairs of SG pants and do occasionally have issues with debris, it’s not a huge problem though.
Looking forward to these brad. Now just need to decide which pair of pants and what size.

The Vespers are a 2-way stretch nylon, how restrictive are they for dynamic, multi-directional movements? When I’m navigating blowdowns or taking big step‑ups, will I have any difficulty bringing my knee up to chest height?

I can say unequivocally that my favorite part about both the Vesper and Torex in terms of functionality is the stretch and how they give you complete freedom of movement. We heard that from all of our testers and having worn them for about 9 months at this point, I can verify that the stretch is great and doesn’t restrict your movement in the slightest.

Pants that restrict movement is a huge pet leave of mine.
