The Argali Clothing Project

The color on the website for Bitterbrush is accurate. Any digitial image isn't always going to 100% align with what they look like in person, but it's close.

I'm curious about your thoughts on the internal belt and knee pads. On the internal belt, I'm open to doing it, but we have not found a ladderlock buckle that doesn't slip under a heavy pack, which is when you need your belt to not be slipping the most. I understand some people like them and the rubbing issue under a pack, but most of our survey feedback was ambivalent or didn't care at all about the built in belt. And my personal experience is the built in belts are ok but not great, and if they do slip you have to remove it so you can use a differnt belt (or use suspenders).

And on the knee pads this is an interesting one. I'm open to it but it was a very low priority for our survey respondants if they cared at all. We will offer knee pad compatible pants in the future, but just an FYI for why. And to your question about why we wouldn't have optional knee pads. If you're going to make room for an internal knee pad you have to create space for it in the leg sizing around the lower thigh, knee and calf area, and to do that you have to make the legs baggier or else the knee pad will feel too restricting inside the pants. We didn't want either of these pants in particular to be baggy in the leg as that creates excess fabric, which causes fabric "swishing", which makes for more noise. Just wanted you to understand the rationale.

On size, we certainly tried to err slightly longer, knowing some people can hem if need be, but it's harder to sew on a couple extra inches of fabric! If you try them out and they don't fit, you can always return.

I appreciate the feedback and let me know if you have any other questions.
The integrated belts always have at least one problem with them if not multiple. They generally just get in the way of using a good belt. Whatever you do make sure the belt loops are sized correctly to use a proper belt when the internal fails or needs to be cut out.

Looks like some great products coming out! Couple questions: any plans to have a camo pattern option?? I might be the oddball here and I know a lot of folks are trending towards wearing solids for good reasons, but somehow I don’t feel like I’m truly ‘hunting’ if I’m not wearing camo lol! I know it’s not that important for concealment etc. and I understand it’s nice to have solids to wear around town, but when I buy clothing specifically for hunting I still prefer camo…

Also- I know Scheels is a dealer for most (?) of your gear- will the clothing be available there in the future as well?

I just listened to a rokcast with Brad and he said eventually they will probably have camo but he wanted to let the clothing speak for itself first and not just sell you a sexy camo pattern.

I hope it ends up in Scheels, I hate buying clothes online cause I like to feel the materials first.

My issue with the integrated belts is that when I'm not hunting I prefer to appendix carry. That makes it more difficult with the integrated belts I have used as typically the buckle feature is right where my holster sits.

I'm intrigued by the Torex as they are being touted as more of a mid season pant. I've got plenty of early season gear and a set of heavy pants for winter, but nothing that can help bridge the gap per say and be able to extend into late season a little better with a heavy base layer. How well does the Torex cut the wind? I'm imagining it's 1 layer of fabric just heavier then the Vesper option.

I hear ya I used to be a camo guy too. But a few years ago I started wherein solids when bow hunting just to test it out and I stopped wearing camo. I know a lot of guys want it, but like was mentioned below I want people to try the clothing because it’s top shelf product, not just because we slap a sexy looking pattern on it, especially initially.

And TBD on Scheels. We do a lot with them now and we will be discussing this with them but I don’t want to get ahead of myself there.

The Torex isn’t a wind proof fabric by any means, but I’ve used it from September in Alaska to late season cold backpacking hunts in November here in Idaho. It cuts the wind enough to be used on colder hunts, but I don’t want you to have the impression it’s a wind layer. But yes it is a slightly heavier fabric than the Vesper.

I think I'll try a pair of the torex pants, sew in my own knee pad pockets, and cut out the hip vent mesh. Too much to like about these pants to not give them a try.

You must be handy with a sewing machine! Send me photos if you do end up doing it.

"I" (my wife) have done this before.

Curious why you don’t like the hip vent mesh? That’s one of the features I really like…hate getting junk inside my pants when they’re open. And ticks in the spring

For consideration - As an online customer, it would be incredibly helpful to ask future reviewers to include their specific body measurements used in your sizing guide, i.e., chest measurement, waist, inseam, etc. Height and weight alone don’t offer much clarity because people’s body shapes vary so much. Then couple that with a question about how the garment fits, runs small, true to size, or runs large.

Not many retailers have this and it would make choosing the right size far easier for customers.

Looking forward to trying these pieces.
Wanted to updated you on this. Out of sheer ignorance we didn't know this was a fairly simple thing to do on the backend of our software platform, so going forward all reviewers for clothing will asked to put in some measurements and perception on fit. You should see some reviews from people start to trickle in along with their sizes.

Significantly reduces ventilation.

I couldnt agree more. No need for mesh but the hip vents must be placed properly. The vents need to be an inch or two behind the midline of the outside of the leg. The design on these seems like it is really close to the right spot but moving the vent back an inch or two would be ideal. (See picture).

I’ve got pants without mesh now. It’s a major problem for me on a regular basis…I get snow/debris in them all the time. Not to mention ticks in the spring. I’ve pulled a lot off the outside of the pants, knock on wood, nothing on the inside yet. But having that vent opened creates a way easier egress for them, which is common during spring bear season. I don’t see how vent placement would have any bearing on any of these issues. When I’m in the thick/steep crap when the issues occur, there’s no placement that’s going to be safe from getting branches, dirt, ect contacting.

It for sure works for sticks and debris. I say this from using the Sitka Intercept pants, my current top pant. Look at the vent placing on them. However for the ticks yes mesh would be the only way keep them out.
