The Argali Clothing Project

Haha I hear ya. But in which layer? Your base, mid, active or outer shell :)

All mine have these chest pocket lol so stuff is just buried.
Great point! Whichever one is on the outside. :ROFLMAO: My girlfriend always loves finding the unused ones in the dryer.

Did “double belting” bother you? Just curious…if not, why not add the feature for those of us who like it? If it doesn’t get in the way of a belt like the Argali or Masupial (the two best on the market IMO), then everybody wins right?

I have an old pair of Mammut Courmayeur pants that have the best lower leg design I’ve ever seen. They’ve completely redesigned that pant, so I’ll have to send some photos of it when I get home. There’s a section of elastic band sewn into the heel half of the leg opening. It’s got some grippy silicone/rubber type stuff on the inside, to help it grab onto the boot. Then there’s a tension adjustment strap on the side, allowing for some customization of the leg opening size. It’s also got the lace hook on the front. Those things stay down.

Oh yeah. It's not comfortable right below the belly button to double belt. Lol. The SGs have fallen to the back of the closet as a result. The Gammas don't have belt loops. But I hear ya, if there's a good way to do it low profile, I don't hate the idea.

@Jake Larsen

I'm totally with you on the built-in belt. I'm leaving for a ten day trip right now and taking my OR cirque lite pants mostly because of the belt and minimal pockets. Two hip pocket and one small thigh pocket, all zippered.

So this darn chest pocket just surfaced for me this week.
First time I’ve archery hunted in a couple years. And I believe I’ve switched from fl wilkin to the kuiu 145 zip hoodie in that time.
Because the fl shirts were belly dancer short on me.

Well guess what, the dang zipper pull on the worthless chest pocket, the buckle on my marsupial bino harness clicks together.

So I may be in the market for another lightweight merino top search, without a pocket.

Chest pockets: while I mostly agree that not every piece of clothing needs them, ideally I would like to see them on a mid layer piece (actually 2 chest pockets… I know, I’m the odd man out on this). I’ve been in a few situations on late season hunts etc., where I’ve had to spend the night away from camp with just my puffys, and the chest pockets were a life saver to put a hand warmer in from my emergency stash to get me through the night when temps were in the teens.

Hip vents: prefer some kind of mesh/backing to keep seeds out from maturing vegetation when hunting the high country in September…. Also, gladly take the weight penalty to add crotch vents as well! Inner + outer vents are a winner for me!

Built in belt: some form of built in waist adjustment designed for backpacking use is ideal. Could even be velcro adjustment to mitigate any buckles. 1-1.5” worth of adjustment would probably suffice. Again, odd man out here, but with a 28/29” waist and most pant waist sizes starting at 30”, I generally have to have some sort of belt. Unfortunately, even the marsupial belt is pretty brutal under the hip belt if I’m packing any weight. (Not a knock on the marsupial belt in anyway).

This is a low on my list item, but if you have two materials that perform the same for pants take a handful of cockleburrs and throw on both. Pick the one that they stick to less. If you need some PM me and I can get you as many as you can ever need when I'm out tomorrow.

Can't wait to see this line and how Argali executes this based on all the feedback you have gotten. I only wear hunting pants with removable knee pads. You kneel way more than you think and I just love knee pads. I never take them out.
