The All New MRC/S2H Marshall Rifle Now Available

So how did they shoot? After our last phone conversation there was a chance of different barrels depending on availability. Were they different barrels or all the same?

About like this-

While technically they are under 1.5 MOA for ten rounds (the center is 1.37), there is something going on. The barrels are from a well known company and were chambered by them. It is now trying to be ran down what is causing the issue.

Finally burned through the factory Match Burner ammo I had and did some reloading specifically for this rifle. By “specifically for this rifle” I mean loading112 MBs to book COAL and 41gr H4350.

Did some tinkering w shorter COALs and other bullets at different COALs r/t what the primers looked like, shot same loads in Tikka w 6CM prefit to compare primer appearance (normal in Tikka). Shot some more/different factory ammo in the MRC, primers all look about the same. No other pressure signs present. Said screw it and loaded a batch to see what they’d do.

Edit just realized these 20 didn’t get weighed after dropping from Harrels powder drop, seeing about 0.15 grain above and below 41 gr w H4350

Looks like the firing pin hole in your bolt is oversized. Can be an issue on hotter loads, but sounds like no issue as of now. Some guys, mainly on remington bolts, will actually bushing them for a correct fit.

That’s what I finally decided was going on, and it does appear that way. I’ve been reformed and no longer seek the hottest loads possible, so hopefully a non issue.

I have the bolts bushed on a couple of my Tikkas that see mostly SRP brass. The cratering can show up a long ways before any other sign of pressure. Honestly if I paid $3800 for a rifle I’d be pretty pissed, that looks like a very sloppy pin fit.

if my rifle shot a 21 shot group into 1.1" with zero load development i don't think I'd care much

Yeah, I don't intend to hand it over unless they need to see it. It was actually 20 rounds, didn't realize I added an extra somewhere. There was some mirage involved as well, I wasn't being patient. The rifle seemed to prefer 109 ELDMs, but I'm running short on those.

send it to me, i'd be happy to look at it lol

700 223's do it. Or I should say all the ones Ive had and been around did. It was always common to have that fixed on a 700 but kinda surprised to see it on this particular rifle.

Isn’t the MRC @Bluumoon has actually a Marshall Rifle that was re-barreled by UM for some reason? If so, UM did a good job on the barrel job, but I wonder why they decided it needed to be re-barreled.

What are you taking about? The barrel answer was addressed in this thread.

@Formidilosus, I went back to find the answer to my UM re-barrel question so I wouldn’t lose sleep tonight worrying about it. It appears that a couple other people had the same question and, in post 709, @Bluumoon said, “Can't find if it was discussed earlier in the thread, UM barreled this particular rifle, beyond that I don't know specifics.”

Was his rifle re-barreled by UM, and, if it was, can you point me (and possibly @Bluumoon) to the post that explains why it was?
