710 yards the bull went backwards a step, then one step forward, then he was dead. I love this ******* cartridge!

No carnage wound channel shots?… That sounds disturbing doesn’t it? Almost like being interested in snuff porn. That said, the 223, 6mm, and 6.5 threads are a wealth of information on bullet performance.

You can control RPM with twist rate. As for Lazors, even if they fragment the wound they create is nothing comparable to a lead core, long for caliber, jacketed fragmenting bullet.

This old post got me thinking.. If nose ring DTACs kill well without fragmenting via tumbling, why is it a mono couldn't do the same? Is it just that tumbling is not consistent enough to rely on and the NR dtacs fragment if they dont tumble?

A mono could tumble, and the PVA Cayuga’s are supposed to do that, though from the evidence I’ve seen they are erratic at whether they tumble or just break off the tiny nose section. The thing with a lead cored bullet tumbling is that you are almost always getting some fragmentation off of it which helps the wound channel.

Anyone tried the fort Scott tumble upon impact (tui)
I asked before hunting season but they were pretty new. I’m forced to use lead free at home and the lrx or lazer typically work but if there’s a better mousetrap I’d be happy to use them, they have a 90 grain which, if works, would get some miles from a -6um and 6prc

I watched a buddy use them on an antelope this year. 55ish grain 6mm bullet and it exited at 350 and 400, both shots were close to one another. He and a couple buddies have used them before with good results. The damage from what I remember wasnt overly impressive but my bud said the heavier ones were generally more destructive.

What shot out of ? 6cm/243 size?
It isn’t a big leap to outperform the LRX or Lazer so just hoping for more options

You tried the Maximus yet?

I’m moving away from LRX and currently have some Hammers (meh) and some Lazers I’m trying. I’ve been trying out monos, but the more I use them the less impressed I am.

Yep the Maximus worked just like the hammers
Which were , uh, underwhelming.
Overall I’m not super stoked with fragmenting monos
Sure they work but just not great

That 100 gr cayuga has a recommended twist of 1:7
Think a 7.5 6Um at 5’k + should be ok?

243, there wasn’t a lot of drop with the 55 grain pills out of a 24” barrel.

Anyone have a starting load with rl26? I'm shooting straight 6saum from a 7.75tw 24" pipe. I tested Rl23 today and 115s shot very well at 3240fps, and topped out psi wise right at 58.0gr going 3300fps. I also loaded a couple 109 Bergers at 58.0 to see what they did, they went 3330fps with no psi signs other than flatish primers.

I have N565 and RL26 to give a shot with, really don't want to try N570, but if I want to run that 3320-3350node, that might have to be my drug of choice. In my preliminary testing forming brass with a low charge of 57gr H1000, 115s liked 25-35 off, and the again back from 65-80k off.

I haven't tried RL26, but N570 is definitely worth it. It's shocking how much higher velocities it gives, around 100 fps over anything else. N570 will get you where you want to go.
