Very interested in how those perform! What length and twist barrel are you going to be shooting them in?
24" 7.75tw hawkhill. I will admit I didn't go 6um, as I didn't want to retool dies. I went with a straight 6saum, but essentially duplicated the freebore/lead of the 6um reamer, will lose a couple grain capacity. I had a 65 Sherman max, at the same time as a 65 saum of equal barrel lengths, and top end loads were only about 50fps apart at acceptable pressure levels. Didn't feel the extra capacity in the smaller bore would net me a whole heck of a lot. All I want to do is run 115 NR dtacs at 3300-3350. Hopefully be able to get it with Retumbo as it's a pretty cool burning powder compared to rl26 or N565/N570. I do have about every magnum powder available so we'll see what happens.

I know you said you weren’t interested but unknown munitions has kegs of N570 in stock and 10% off right now.
For the straight 6 saum H1000 might be a sleeper as well if you have any

Oh I use N570 in my Norma improved and 338 rum. I have roughly 30# of it? It's a screamer yes, but I feel once you start using it in bores smaller than 30 cal, it moved the throat very quickly. I had a long freebore 65prc done 3 years ago, and N570 would run 156s at 3100 all day. Throat moved 6-8k every 100 rounds depending on rate of fire.

DO NOT RUN NR DTACS or 108 ELD-Ms in a 7 Twist 6UM.

They can't take it. I blew up another suppressor. I thought I was good with the standard NR Dtacs, but one randomly came apart yesterday. I inspected them, including this one, before loading them. It's not worth the risk. The ELD-M was just for shit and giggles. A few made it down the barrel, then one grenade. Wildcattin is fun:)

On the heels of this, what are you feeling is the max twist? 8? 7.5? How tight would you dare go?

There are two 7.5 out there doing fine so far with the NR DTAC, but we need more bullets down range to know for sure. Haven't tried any 8 twists. I would imagine they would be fine with the speed these are generating.

So what is your plan now? Order another benchmark and wait a year plus 🤣. Just kidding but seriously. What is the plan?
Ace says they are days away from having a 6mm barrel for me to try.

I'm going to try some Cayuga 100g bullets in this rifle. At a minimum, I know they won't blow up. HAHA!

What kind of RPM are you generating?

What type of rifling?…3, 4, or 5 groove?

That'll certainly ruin your day! :(

Curious, how many rounds down this particular barrel? I'm only asking because as we all know overbore cartridges are hell on throats. Fast twist barrels tend to be hard on bullet integrity and when you add fast stepping overbore cartridges + fast twist barrels + throat erosion it will often = bullets coming apart nearly before they've exited the barrel.

A 1-7” twist at UM speeds is over 320,000 rpm. A 1-7.5” or better a 1-8” twist will keep RPM below 300k.
