The 22 creedmoor thread

Missed a coyote last night at relatively short distance (229 yards), so suspected my zero might not have been as good as I thought. Took it out today to confirm and I was shooting low and right. Now she's good to go.

I did shoot several jack rabbits with the 77 TMK though and this was about how most of them went. Not much left to take a picture of:

Can someone give me a sanity check on pressure signs? They go up from 38.5gr in 0.5gr increments from left to right and top to bottom. H4350 with the 88gr ELDM. Peterson brass. CCI450.

I input my parameters into Gordon’s reloading tool and it says I am reaching 62k at only 39.5gr. I was hoping to squeeze another 100fps out of it.

Looks to me like some pretty intense ejector marks on the last few. Virgin brass has a way of hiding pressure signs that on the next load cause sticky/stuck bolts IME.

Every time I’ve tried to redline a 22cm I’ve had to go back and reduce charge weights. The 88s seem to be especially finicky when loading near max.

If I was you I’d not push above book max especially on virgin brass…just a recipe for headache when you have to go back and pull a bunch of rounds as your barrel speeds up etc. stick with Peterson max charge weights or a little below unless you like to re-work a load up.

These were all once fired at 38gr, then loaded this ladder. The last 2 (42-42.5) definitely had intense ejector marks. But then it randomly had ejector marks at 39.5gr too (but not 40 - 41.5).

The bolt lift was totally normal until 42gr.

Are these "shiny marks" normal? They show up on pretty much every case.

The beginning of your pressure signs. Where the bolt rubs the ejector mark when turning to extract.

Hard to say..I feel like the brass lies to me half the time so I’ve just been going with book loads and book velocity. How many rounds down the tube?

I see those faint marks as the first subtle indicator of higher PSI but I’m not concerned unless I also get another PSI sign like bolt lift.
What was your velocity with the 38-38.5gr?

Here's my actual fps and then what GRT calculates with a Sebert factor of 0.5. This is with a 16.5" barrel (PVA 100FB) and a Scythe Ti suppressor.
