The 22 creedmoor thread

How many of you having issues with the 88 eld-m are guys slangin them with a 1:8.

Previously I had a bunch of 1:7 barrels and shot 88 eld-m, 90 A-Tips and 95 smk and never lost a bullet. (Muzzle velocity between 3080 and 3180)
Have since dropped down to 1:8 and 75 eld-m, 77 tmk and 80 eld-m( the 75 “outruns” it’s larger brethren and kill just dandy) it’s also a great crossover bullet
for shooting coyotes and can be launched at Mach Jeezus take the wheel.

If The 1:8 is marginally stable with the 88 and that might lead to marginal results on target.
Although they might be more prone to tumbling which could also be beneficial.
This new Sierra 88 will likely make it moot but just something I’ve been chewing on with these increasing reports of on game and reloading bench issues.

My 1-7 barrel didn't like them. On the last S2H podcast they mentioned that sometimes seating adjustments in a big move can improve a load. I was seating at 20 thou but maybe 60 would be better? But this pipe is halfway through its life so I'm not going to waste anymore life trying to play with them.

You’re close enough 30 thou was always a good starting point
No good for hunting but they almost always shot with a bit of jam too.

@HighUintas you got me. I once chopped a stockys vg off about 4" in front of the mag to save a few ounces and thought that was extreme.
It's a bit short in LOP, but I did go out and put up a 1" ten shot group with it and a 6.5cm barrel. It certainly doesn't affect accuracy from a bench. I sort of want to try it in the hills hunting rocks and see what it's like to carry.

You made a great looking stock, by th way

I assume you strap that to a 7,000+ ci pack full of your fears that weighs 50lbs? I think that's what real mountain hunters do.

To keep this on track though, we shot some whitetail does tonight with the 174 eldvt, 300wm. For science. After shooting the 22 creed all season I was expecting some shock and awe. Not so much. 2 of the 3 does ran farther than any I shot with the 22 creed this year.
