The 22 creedmoor thread

Might hurt the DTAC nose ring sales a little
That DTAC seems desirable from a toughness/penetration depth standpoint at high velocity. Not sure the new big TMK will match it in that regard?

Sounds like the 115-117 is going to be a long bearing length, modest BC bullet so a 112 MB would still be more desirable from an external ballistic standpoint.

It will hurt sales for the other bullets until the TMKs are out of stock for two years :)
In all seriousness, the new TMK lineup is largely a result of demand from Rokslide and like-minded individuals influenced by all of the information here. Hopefully their willingness to make cool stuff that we actually want will go hand in hand with keeping things in stock.

What’s the lightest total gun weight anyone is hunting with, and finding it easy to stay in the scope with the 22creed? Suppressed of course.

My 22 creed (16" barrel, 88 eldm) added some more kills to the resume in the last few weeks:
-Whitetail buck, 200 yards broadside through ribs. Ran about 20 yards and crashed. Quarter sized exit and excellent blood trail.
-Whitetail doe, 272 yards. Same story as above.
-Whitetail doe, 311 yards. High ribs. Bang flop, looks like the underside of spine caught some shrapnel. Exit.
-Whitetail doe, 464 yards. Broadside and shot through front shoulder. Bang flop. Golf ball sized exit, both shoulders completely destroyed. Bone fragments everywhere. Scrapped both shoulders.

No photos this time, but they all start to look the same after shooting violent little bullets.

The interesting thing is that after getting very few exits with this bullet on deer earlier, the last 4 have exited. Goes to show why you shouldn't bench something before you get a decent sample size.

Looking back at my posts, 8 deer and 2 elk for this barrel so far this year. 50-464 yards. Only one stayed on it's feet long enough to get another shot. None made it more than 50 yards. I haven't noticed any 88 eldms yet that seemed marginal in internal tissue damage. Coyotes are generally bang-flop. Might add a few more deer yet this year.

Mine is 8.4lbs suppressed and it’s no problem with the 80s
I set one up for a friend that’s 7.7lbs suppressed and put about 40 rounds through it about a year ago with the 80s and don’t remember it being that bad either. Now stout loads of RS grand or rl26 with the 90s has a little more recoil in my 8.4lb gun and makes it a little harder to spot but it’s doable.

Thanks.

My 7lb 6oz mini dasher is about perfect.

Wondering how much recoil I can get away with in a sub 7lb gun

Not all 1-7” twists make 88’s fail- just that it isn’t uncommon.
Just keep trimming the barrel until bullets stop blowing up hahaha that was my plan knowing I was gambling with th 1 in 7 (we dont have many options on the shelf down here). Also we are at sea level and I wanted to try 95 smks

I’ve seen your dasher project, pretty cool. I have a 6.8lb scoped/suppressed 16” 243win. That’s not bad at all with 85-100gr bullets. But it also has some German kick pad on there that really softens things up better than any kick pad I’ve ever used.

Wonder who has the lightest 22 creed on here. I'd like to set up a tikka that'd be 7-8lb complete. Make it easier for the kids to carry.

7.59lbs with a vx6 3-18 and AirLock ZG 6.5 on the end in a stockys stock 16”bbl. Mine is 8lbs at 18” with the stockys vg hunter, March 1.5-15x42 and ZG 6.5

That Airlock nano will be great.

Might have a couple bids on a couple tikkas on gun joker that are winning. Few days left but we'll see. If I can snag one to build a 22 creed with for under $650 I'd be doing ok.

Stainless? if not it's hard to justify used prices with what new tikkas are selling for. You can get a stainless 6.5 PRC from eurooptic new for $700 right now. Cheapest donor blued action is $530 for a 350 legend or $600 for a blued 270 (so you dont have to trade the bolt for one with the right bolt face).

How many of you having issues with the 88 eld-m are guys slangin them with a 1:8.

Previously I had a bunch of 1:7 barrels and shot 88 eld-m, 90 A-Tips and 95 smk and never lost a bullet. (Muzzle velocity between 3080 and 3180)
Have since dropped down to 1:8 and 75 eld-m, 77 tmk and 80 eld-m( the 75 “outruns” it’s larger brethren and kill just dandy) it’s also a great crossover bullet
for shooting coyotes and can be launched at Mach Jeezus take the wheel.

If The 1:8 is marginally stable with the 88 and that might lead to marginal results on target.
Although they might be more prone to tumbling which could also be beneficial.
This new Sierra 88 will likely make it moot but just something I’ve been chewing on with these increasing reports of on game and reloading bench issues.
