The 22 creedmoor thread

I ran N555 with 77tmk in my first 22cm 3-4 years ago. It was a 22in 8tw. Chamber was throated long to keep the bullet above neck shoulder junction. I was running lapua brass. I was able to find pressure(hot conditions) with somewhere around 44.3gr if I recall. Was using a 12" drop tube and vibrating cases to get room to seat without crunch. This was running mid 3400mv. I eventually dropped it down to mid 3300s for an app season load.

I'm currently running 42.2gr N555 in the new 18in barrel with 88s at 3040mv. You can get up to 44gr in alpha brass.
How is the accuracy (compared to other powders)?

76 grain Absolute Hammer. 43 grns R17. Tikka T3, 20" Criterion barrel. 3,550 fps.

Very first 3 shots with the hammers. 3/8th "

Huge? No.

Repeated instances of slightly more consistent killing wounds with 80 ELDXs and 77 TMKs over 80 and 88 Ms? Yes.

This is the same with 103 Xs versus 108 Ms but look how many dozens and dozens of 108 M big game kills are on this forum…

They all kill. Hunt with whatever you’re loading up and sighted in for at the time, and/or what the gun shoots best.

Getting ready to buy bullets and load this weekend.
Great Falls only has 77 smk's. 75 eldms and 88 eldms.
Gunna try the 88's. Just a hassle ordering bullets online. Hoping they'll shoot.

Al's Sporting Goods (aka Bob Wards) in Helena shows that they have both the 80 ELDM and ELDX Hornady 22CM ammo in stock if you are heading that way at all. If it was me, I'd make the trip to try a couple of boxes of each before started loading on a new barrel just to have a baseline and get a feel for the barrel.

N555 and 88s were 1.5” at best out of my gun, across all charges. But 43.0 grains of h1000 and 88s shoot absolutely lights out. Will run it over a chrono next week
