I’ve done a fair bit of side by side testing with folks shooting for “groups” at 100 yards and comparing groups size. Most shooters immediate response is to zoom the scope in as far as possible. This normally ends up being counterproductive for maintaining accuracy in 5-10 shot groups. What power magnification do you guys use for shooting groups? I use lower for hunting and increase quite a bit when testing loads. I'm curious what others do that are shooting some of these tight groups.
If a shooter leaves their scope around 8X or is using a fixed power scope in 6X 8x or 10x, when measuring average group size, the fixed scopes and scopes left at or below 10X result in smaller overall groups when looked at in larger data sets.
