The 22 creedmoor thread

What power magnification do you guys use for shooting groups? I use lower for hunting and increase quite a bit when testing loads. I'm curious what others do that are shooting some of these tight groups.
I’ve done a fair bit of side by side testing with folks shooting for “groups” at 100 yards and comparing groups size. Most shooters immediate response is to zoom the scope in as far as possible. This normally ends up being counterproductive for maintaining accuracy in 5-10 shot groups.

If a shooter leaves their scope around 8X or is using a fixed power scope in 6X 8x or 10x, when measuring average group size, the fixed scopes and scopes left at or below 10X result in smaller overall groups when looked at in larger data sets.

I just put an order in for a 1:12 twist barrel. I’m going to be a test dummy for my smith but it’s basically going to be chambered for the 53 grain vmax. Not sure on the reamer specs yet but I was told it should be done within 2 months.
You’re the man! Looking forward to seeing the results.

Get on the phone and change that order quick, there is nothing a slow twist barrel will do better than a fast one

Haha it on purpose. It’s going to be a thermal gun. Hoping to shoot the vmax in 4,000 fps range. With a 8 twist, I’ll be around 360,000rpms and 12 gives me 240,000 rpms.

I already got a 7.5 twist 22 CM on a sig cross so it’s the best of both worlds.

Last 18 shots of virgin brass. Tried the 85.5s seems to like them. Has gained roughly 100fps and the 80 eld x load no longer shoots like it did at 15 rounds when loads. Rifle has killed about half a dozen goats. Anyone used the 85.5s on game? They combined 2 x 6 shots groups would have aa Max overlaid size of 0.93inchs at 100m with a grain difference in charge weight.

Just curious, not picking at your choice. Did you consider the 62 ELD-VT? I know the 53 V-Max is superb, but thought that new 62 might be better.

I’ve been shooting 80.5 Berger fullbores out of 22 creed. 3350 speed wise. Have killed javalena and coyotes with it. Bullets have preformed great
Sweet thx I plan on mainly using this rifle as a do all general purpose rifle for deer, black bear and maybe the odd cow elk/moose.

Guys, please look over my shoulder.

Should I be flattening primers with 37.5gr 4350 and 88 eld?

My lands are at 2.700 and these were loaded OAL 2.680.

18" 1:7 barrel. Chamber option listed as "100 FB".

n565's not it...I flattened primers at 36.5 gr at 2500 fps...
Hmmmmm..... n565 gave more speed in my tests .... h1000 gave 3300 fps from a 24" with 88s . Maybe h4831sc or n560 because of the your shorter barrel.....im running a 22" with 80.5s at 3200 but barrel only has 40 rounds on it so far by Sunday that'll be over 125-140 ish...
