Also to note on my post above. I’ve chronod a high percentage of the “good” lot and haven’t really seen much more than high 30s to low 40s for ES. It averages right at 1 MOA consistently.

This new lot averages closer to 1.5-2 MOA consistently and I regularly see close to 100 ES on 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 shot strings while practicing.

Just some minimal “data” to throw out there.

Wondering if 22 creed and an 8 twist barrel is more susceptible to accuracy degradation with larger velocity discrepancies? The 77 TMKs always shot 1 MOA as well, with an average of 30-40 ES. Does anyone think that 80 grain at 22CM velocity is right at the threshold for an 8 twist 19” barrel?

Crossed 1,000 rounds on the barrel today and it’s still 1 MOA with the “good” load so it’s not “dirty throat” or “dirty barrel” causing any issues with the other load I wouldn’t think.

Probably chasing my tail over nothing?

I think it’s just factory ammo - you might get lucky and your rifles loves it or sometimes it doesn’t.

Same gun, same bullet, same load, 200 rounds apart. Scrubbed it clean, for science. Interested to see how things shake out on the next range trip.

That’s almost exactly what mine looks like. How many rounds? I’ve lost track on mine but approximately 600. It was a 1” for 10 shots now closer to 2”. Curious if cleaning helps yours.

The first one is literally the first group through this barrel lol. Second is the most recent group, not quite 200, 191 I think. Should be able to shoot in the next couple days some time

Only had 9 rounds left, so not a great sample size. Bottom right rounds were the first ones through after cleaning, initial fouler was 150fps slower, then right back to normal on the next one. Lower left round was a combination of being unstead from a wind gust and a bad trigger press. Overall, I would say that cleaning brought the group size back to normal, as much as it pains me to say. Going to shoot a higher round count group on a calmer day as soon as possible.

Is 0.1" freebore enough for the 88 eldm?
My prefit at the beginning of this thread is a .100 freebore chamber. You can see where the 88 sits in the first couple pages. I think .120 would be more ideal but wouldn’t be a deal breaker. I’d buy another .100 freebore 22 creed without worry.

If you had a "factory" barrel with a saami chamber and throat, what's the freebore?

88g ELDM, MV 3060fps.

Muley #1 2596fps impact behind shoulder, through lungs, fragments touched spine resulting in DRT. Baseball+ sized wound through the deer.

88g shoulder removed.jpg

Muley #2 2139fps impact. The deer started moving as the shot broke, bullet hit guts. The deer acted sick but started towards a saddle. Second shot in leg putting deer in 3 wheel drive. 3rd shot neck to drop the deer. Not how I want it to play out but was glad for a quick recovery after the initial shot was back.

Whitetail (no photo) 2860fps impact neck/shoulder area, DRT.

I have 169 freebore 7.5tw 18". N555 runs 3040 lower pressure, and 3150 lil spicy. Honestly, 200fb would be better for dedicated 88 eldm chamber.
You don't worry about case fill with the bullet seated out so much? For hunting, I worry that the powder column on steep shots could affect internal ballistics (think downhill shot where powder is not packed against primer flash hole).

This is why I'm hesitant to use just H4350 at 41-ish grains...
