Looking at reamers today and thinking about trying one of the alpha Munitions reamers. I have only used jgs in the past but have heard good results from guys who have used Alphas tooling.
Anyone used an alpha reamer on their 22cm chamber? If so what were your results and which freebore did you go with?

I'm running the 0.169fb alpha reamer, alpha brass. Works well with 80-90gr bullets.

4th big game kill for the Tikka 22 Creedmoor and 80 ELDX. Neck shot at 212 yards on this Coues Whitetail Buck. Young hunter was tickled to death to watch the deer drop through the scope

2.775-2.780 with 88s and 90s touching. Honestly, the ideal freebore for the 88eld and 90 atip would be right around 0.200-220, as that'd give you some neck to play with seating depth wise before going below neck line with bearing surface. Im jumping the 88s about 45-50k, so I'm a ways below neck line. The 169 works perfectly with 80eldm 85.5 berger and 77tmk.

I have about 270 rounds down this new 22cm barrel, and the throats moved .007 which isn't terrible, but I've been using cool burning powders.

My current favorite gun, Tikka 22 Creedmoor is ready for yet another flight. Hoping for a few more big game kills and some northern dog kills. Bring on the below freezing temps!

Finally got the new 22/25 creed out for a spin. First pic has the 25 barrel on. 22 barrel does not have a brake.

Still dialing in the load but looking like 42ish grains of h4350 and right at 3700 with the 62 eldvts

80 ELDX and .224 for big game continues to impress so far. Following the @Formidilosus and @PNWGATOR formula for success had been eye opening.

A successful first morning out with the 22 Creedmoor here in Minnesota. Two coyotes came in at 220 yards. First one DRT. Second one was jogging away and I hit him back. He dropped and spun about 6 times and took off into the woods. Never found the second coyote which is a bummer because their tails are currently worth $20 each



This is the 5th big game kill since September for the Tikka 22 Creedmoor. Doe came in at 203 yards. Perfectly broadsided. 12 MPH 8 o clock wind. She was hit and jumped and made it 20 yards into the woods and collapsed. Watched her die in the scope. Time from shot, to death was around 8 seconds.



Top half of the heart was gone. Broad side lung had nothing left. Offside lung had about a quarter of it left.





Entrance broke through the 4th rib. Outside.



Entrance Inside.




Exit was also on 4th rib. Broke through the offside rib bone. Bullet lodged in the offside hide.

Big game kill number 6. Meet my meaty meat buck.

Pictured is all that’s left of his heart. Both lungs had clean slice throughs. Entered between 3rd and 4th rib. Exited between 4th and 5th rib. Perfect lemon shaped wound channel.

Shot was 40 yards in the woods. He dropped in place.

Picked up my barreled action this week - Bighorn origin and a 20ish” proof 1:8 barrel.

Shot 25 rounds through it to zero just now.

AVG 3104 fps 52fps spread with factory ammo - 80gr ELDMs.

Will be impatiently waiting for Rokstocks to be available again.

30 shot two bullet work up with RS 1k (edited until I buy more) powder
80 gr ELD? seconds
Will drop to 46.5 gr powder from 47.1gr, bolt lift stiffend on last 3 rounds (last 3 of 20 fired non stop)
47.1 gr avg 3193fps min 3180/max 3207
46.5gr should be around 3150fps = 8mph load
10 shot group 1.1"

77gr TMK
47.2 gr AVG 3186 min 3168/max 3216 = 7mph load
4 rounds to get on paper
0.675" 5 round group
1.48" 6 round group, normal cone? Spasm? Mirage (10th shot mirage was strong)

Not sure which bullet I'll go with yet, hate to burn up the 77s, but I have a few.

One more and I’ll quit bombarding the thread.

Lucky number 7 big game kill for the 22 Creedmoor.

Heavy bodied 6 point. Their bodies up here make their racks look much smaller than they are.

404 yards. Shattered the shoulder and 2nd/3rd ribs. Broad side front leg was dangling bad. Destroyed another top half of a heart and broad side lung had almost nothing left. He went 20 yards and died. Offside ribs and hide both penetrated. Google ball sized entrance and exit once I took the hide off.

The 80 ELDX is a killer!

This buck was 248 lbs on the scale with all guts and vitals left in the field.

248# dressed out? I'm not doubting the 22cm/88eld combo. My very first "custom" rifle was a 1-8"tw 22-250 back in 2006, killed truckloads of northern michigan deer with that rifle and 75 Max's. And multiple truckloads with the 223/223ai and 22-250/22-250ai in the last 18 years. You post lots of great pics, but a pic of that buck on the scale would would have been sweet! With the quality of your posts I'm surprised you didn't take a pic of that.

Haha don't worry about starting a new thread. This thread is Great with your 22cm kills! I completely get it. I have a freezer full of Walleye and still wouldn't want to miss out on a Walleye dinner. I just seen you you say 248# dressed and we kill alot of northern bucks, and really big bodied whitetails here go from 170- 200 dressed and was surprised to see you say 248# . Kill some more for this thread!! Love it!!!!

Thanks. We’re only about 50 miles to Manitoba so it’s a ways up here. The farmers and ranchers here say the deer “down south” (meaning central to southern minnesota) are significantly smaller bodied.

All I know is that the fat layers and thickness of hide on these deer are next level compared to any other deer I’ve killed. Thicker than most elk I’ve killed as well.

All I know is that the fat layers and thickness of hide on these deer are next level compared to any other deer I’ve killed. Thicker than most elk I’ve killed as well.

Damn that’s a big deer! We hunt northern MN as well, but not as far north. We’re a bit west of Bemidji, so about 2 hours south of Manitoba. Here, a huge buck that wins contests is usually 220 or so. I can’t imagine consistently killing bucks that are near 250!

For perspective, this was a big one a hunting partner got yesterday but only weighed 190 dressed on the scale despite being nearly 9 feet long hanging. I think this deer would have to be on steroids to add another 60 pounds!

Also, if you do start a big deer thread, please share, I’d love to follow. Somewhere I have a photo of my dad with his biggest buck and it was still touching the ground when hung from a 10 foot ceiling to weight it. That one went about 225 dresses as I recall.
