I'm kind of wishing I'd have gone shorter, I'm at 2.715 to get the base of boattail to the base of the neck. Not going to measure my jump, but it will be big. Worst case, I'll just get some 95s, but I bet it will shoot fine.
Just for general info you should measure to touch and post up the results. You say the base of boat tail but I'm thinking you actually mean boat tail to bearing surface to base of neck? Do you have a copy of the reamer print that was used?

A .170FB should have the boat tail lower bearing surface boat tail point ~ .050" above neck shoulder on a 22CM.

From the published data I've seen for 22 Creed and 22-250ai, seems like 4350 is a touch fast, so I'm saving it for my 6 and 6.5. 4831/sc should be good, and sounds like h1000 or rl26 is even better.

Another thread I am going through about the 22 creed, I think on snipers hide, quite a few guys that are using R26 are getting carbon rings pretty fast and that’s upping their pressure. Seems like those guys have switched to other powders.

I just spun a 22 creed barrel on a tikka yesterday. Bought from a member on here. Haven’t gotten a chance to shoot it yet but have some rounds loaded in H4350 and 4831 to find pressure then I’ll do some load development.

I tried 75 and 88 gr. ELD-Ms in a 24" Bartlein chambered by Bugholes. The 88s shot a little better. The initial load workup was H4350 in Alpha brass. I worked up to 40.0 grains of H4350 at 3,200 fps. After the barrel sped up, they're running close to 3,300 and shooting pretty much one hole.

I updated my OP but .100fb with an 88 jammed, puts the boat tail to bearing surface damn near right at the neck shoulder junction.

I’ll probably shoot the first 100 at .020 for break in and measure from there.

Im not one to chase the lands and I’ll likely load .050 or so off and run them like I do on my other creedmoors.

@id_jon id bet your a ways off with the .170fb, interested to see what you come up with.

I don’t get too crazy about being close to the rifling I just wouldn’t mind not having a crap load of bullet in the case

Since a picture's worth a thousand words. 2.715" overall.
I do not have a copy of the reamer print.
I'll measure after I have a fired case, should get out to the range tomorrow morning.

That's gonna be a burner... What length did you go with? My 24" Carbon 6 pushes 88 elds 3250.
Yeah I'm viewing the barrel as a consumable for this project lol.

I believe I went with 26", 1-8 twist in the bull configuration. I'm gonna run some heavier bullets too.

Looking at their freebore options, they recommend the .080 for anything less than 90g. So I'm curious @id_jon with the longer .160 are you able to reach the lands with the 88eldm with still enough bearing surface in the case neck?
~.170 FB w/88's seated to touch should be ~2.770" OAL with the boat tail to bearing surface point ~.050" above the neck shoulder junction leaving plenty of bearing surface in the neck. The numbers will vary slightly depending on neck dia and FB dia.

Got mine set up yesterday
Mcgowen prefit 16 inches 1-7, Found pressure and got a very rough zero before the bad weather blew in. Lapua srp 6mm brass, 38 grains Leverevolution, 88 eldm, 2.7 oal. 8F26F239-1B21-4D97-8B95-FB875F7E2D9B.jpeg
Going to shoot some actual 10 shot group and come ups when the weather clears up.

Did not hit pressure yet with 4831sc. This was the best group, 39.5gr. Shot 4 charges round robin, all right around 1moa, 7 shot groups. I'm around 2625 at 39.5, so I'm hoping I can squeeze some more speed out with higher charge and more rounds through the new barrel.

Edit: wish I had read the 22creed loading thread on SH before I loaded mine, almost everyone there is 41+gr of 4831 with 88s or heavier

Alpha LRP, 200's, Moly 88 ELD-M, H4831sc... Mainstay load.

Dinked around with Moly 75 Amax - H4350. It loved it but the 88's are MONSTERS.

What’s your powder charge with the 4831? Have some test rounds pounds loaded up from 38-42.5 grains to look for pressure now.

With Moly being a lubricant it takes a bit more powder to reach a given pressure threshold. I'm at 43gr H4831 for 3160 fps with dick nothing ES/SD numbers and tidy 10rnd groups... I did work up to 3200+ fps but am happy to let the .545 BC do the work and not lean too hard on my brass...

First 100 rounds through it. 42.5gr H4831sc got me 2986avg at 10 rounds. I pulled the magnetospeed off and shot another 25ish while I was out, so I'm anticipating it being slightly over 2900 next time I chrono. Going to stay at 42.5 I think, I'm happy with the speed and it gives me some wiggle room for wet conditions.

Shot a kraft drill with my lower charge weight rounds since I decided it wasn't worth chronoing them. Pretty happy with that for a 10lb rifle and 4 different charge weights, all .5gr apart.

How full is your case? I wonder if you could even add enough of that powder to cause pressure.

My plan is to get to 2900 and see how it speeds up from there. I want 100 pieces of brass to last the barrel so I won’t press on the gas too hard
