The 22 creedmoor thread

How many rounds for a group are you shooting? FWIW, at minimum I look at 10 round groups to get an idea of what a rifle/load combo is doing.

If those are 10 round groups color me impressed.
4 shot max per charge if i see a node that shoots decent and had low es ill reload that node typically 12 rounds then retest it. It was basicly just a q quick test to get a idea what n565 will do.... its to slow of a powder I think for that bullet and case fill is right to the bottom of the neck and slightly compressed n555 and h4350 are much better.

What barrel length? I’m getting 3350fps w 20” barrel, 77TMK and H4350 and pretty happy w that. Hopefully barrel is settled in, I was getting 3300 fps after 200 rounds, closer to 500 rounds on it now.

22" 1-8" twist proof carbon wrap sendaro on a stiller predator action h4350 will be my next test

Should be able to shoot more than 10 rounds in a day so if it’s all day long it has to be a pretty large sample size
Lol ...all day long shooting multiple groups or rounds. That particular load is real nice. My next round of tests will most likly be with h4350 and compare directly to the n555.

Meaning if he was getting 5/8” groups w 10 rounds I’m impressed, not that someone is actually shooting 10 rounds.

My buddy has an 18” carbon six tikka prefit in 22 creed with a 1-7.75 twist that I am looking at buying. Do you think this would be enough to properly stabilize the 88gr eld-m?

Well, I finally got to shoot the build that I put together for my best friend (function check, scope rough zero, and initial load work).

It is a 19" 1:8" twist Carbon Six barrel, Tikka action.

The plan is to only load 77 grain TMKs in this as it is a SAAMI throat. I am using Peterson LRP brass and Win LR primers.

N560 produced really good speed, but it was pretty erratic. Groups weren't horrible, but I think it can do better. I might actually work down to see if I can find some accuracy at a lower speed.

N560 velocities:

43.2 = 3105 fps 11.8SD
43.6 = 3145 fps 17.5SD
44.0 = 3188 fps 22.2SD
44.4 = 3236 fps 17.7SD

I also tried some H4831SC. I only shot the first and last group due to pretty low speeds, so I know I have room to push this up a bit. Groups were much better and as you can see the SDs were good.

40.0 = 2794 fps 6.1SD
41.2 = 2885 fps 6.8SD

I am going to take the H4831SC up to 42 grains. As my buddy is not a big rifle hunter having this be a 600 yard gun is more than enough so I think if I can find good accuracy in the 2950-3000 fps range, I will go with it.

Oh, and I started with these two powders mainly because I have 8-pounders of both.

If you can get your hands on it h4350 and n555 have been amazing. I got 5 kg of 555 so gtg..... also take a look at the 80.5 berger fullbore it has performed quite well on black bear

I have H4350 as I use it for one of my 7-08s, but it will pressure out quick in the Creedmoors. In my experience, they like something a bit more slow.

For virgin brass I'm certainly not complaining about this 10 shot group. The shot labeled 2 I called it when it broke, I wasn't squared correctly. This was after about 60-70 shots down the barrel.

Has anyone found a better solution or fit for a thicker recoil pad other than Backfire one or limbsaver airtech 10809? Would like about a 1/2" more lop than how it ships. Can make spacers but a thicker pad seems like a simple solution. I would have ordered the Backfire one for both stocks but they won't ship to Canada. If the 10809 is the next best option I'll try that but figured was worth asking if anyone has found a better option. I see limbsaver has a really thick grind to fit has anyone played with those?

Just a quick question. Did you mean to post this in the Stocky's stock thread?

Tried my hand at the 77 TMK loaded with RL-26. 5 shot groups at each charge. 100 yards, white squares are 1”. Id like to see a smaller ES, but overall, I’m pretty happy with my 20” Proof.

Man, that thing is screaming!

I really wish that RL26 wasn’t fairy dust. I have a couple of cartridges that I would like to try it out on.

So, I got a picture texted to me yesterday morning from my best friend. The 22 Creed that I built was for him. Tikka action, C6 19” barrel, Stocky’s stock, Tract Toric UHD 3-15 FFP Mil scope, UM rings.

The first group he shot is pictured. When he made the adjustment, he also realized that he hadn’t adjusted the parallax on the scope, so he made that adjustment as well. Then proceeded to shot the 3-shot group at 300 that he is pointing to. You can also see the group he shot with his 6.5PRC X-Bolt. He has been a bow hunter his entire life and just recently got into rifles because of me. Needless to say, he really likes the rifle.Resized_20250615_101124.jpeg

RL-26 definitely takes it up a notch! I was lucky and snagged several pounds back when it was easily available. Figured I better finally use it haha.
