I was in Northern Nevada helping a good friend on an elk hunt. He closed the deal on a nice bull Saturday. And then the work started. The packout wasn't horrible but no pack out is easy and this was all uphill. We got out to the side by side and are dropping packs and grabbing waters and this family pulls up in a side by side. Their son had a mule deer tag and they had been up on another ridge and had glassed us coming up the ridge. They pull up and the guy gets out and says "that looked like quite the pack out, you guys deserve a beer if anyone would like one". and pulls several out of his cooler. You have no idea how good that ice cold Modelo tasted at that moment!!! I am horrible at names but if i caught it right, this was the Jones family out of Reno. If you are roksliders.... I wanted to say THANK YOU again. I hope your son got an opportunity at a buck.

There are still a lot of very decent people out there.

I wrecked my rig early one morning going up to hunt in CO a couple years ago. We had a hunter on his way up stop, ask what he could do, and ultimately gave my buddy a ride back to where we were staying so he could get his rig. Maybe a ride is a small thing, I don't know, but that was a huge help to me in a very stressful situation. I'd love to track him down and buy him lunch or something, but all I have is his first name. All I can do is try to pay it forward.

I've had complete strangers help me get an elk off the mountain.

Had a butcher stay late to cut up a bull in one day so I could get on the road (Wapiti Meats, Cody WY).

Had some Midas dudes stay late to fix my brakes on the way home, saved me two nights in a motel in Kearney NE.

I carry a battery jump pack and have helped jump a couple folks. Gave a ride to a rancher who's ATV broke down. Try to give more than I take but western folks are such good people it makes it tough!
