This spring season I am testing a Weatherby 307 Alpine CT rifle chambered in the new 25 RPM cartridge. The 307 is the newest action in the Weatherby family and is the base for a large range of rifles. This test rifle is a long action with a 22 inch BSF carbon wrapped barrel, TriggerTech trigger, and a Peak 44 Bastion stock. The 25 RPM is a sporty 25 caliber round that makes use of the heavier, modern bullets and their high BC's. It's a well spec'd rifle that I've topped with a Trijicon Credo HX 2.5-15 scope and Hawkins Precision rings. I'm excited to put it to use this spring bear season and see how it functions in the mountains.

More info on the Alpine CT can be found HERE

Curious to see what velocities end up being with 128s and 134s. These seem like a pretty well designed rifle, but would like to see a steel barrel… maybe they have one in steel that I haven’t seen.

My father has the 307 Alpine CT in 7mmPRC. The design of the stock makes it a very shootable rifle despite the chambering. It is a lot of rifle for the money.
I have a Mark V backcountry guide in 280AI. Despite costing almost double I honestly might like the alpine CT better. I wish they made a left hand 307. If they did, I would have one.

The 307 alpine ct is definitely on my radar. I’m currently running a 6.5-300 in a vanguard wilderness and want to upgrade. I’m going back and forth on the alpine ct or the mark v backcountry.

700 footprint on the 307 makes that easy for me.

With a few boxes of factory ammo in hand I made a quick trip to the range for an initial zero. The load is the 117 Barnes LRX with a listed velocity of 3150 fps in a 24" barrel. The Alpine CT has a 22" barrel and the factory loads averaged 3127 fps.

The 25 RPM is an interesting cartridge in its long action configuration. The smaller case diameter reminds me of a 280 A.I. and allows for 4 rounds down in the magazine. Here it is between a 6 ARC and a 6.5 PRC.

The groups today shot today were two separate 5-shot groups after I got everything on paper. some 10-shot groups are planned for the next range trip. So far there have not been any surprises.

Is that a new lower profile elevation turret design on the credo? Or maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me

This is not great, but we appreciate the transparency.
