When I use to hunt solo I’d let my dog in the tent. I always had 2 z lite foam pads, one for me and one for the dogs bed. At night I would lay them over the side of my sleeping pad that she was on, and sometimes add my rain gear if it was damp, it would usually be dry and warm by morning, added bonus.

Folks that bring their dogs on trips. Ideally the dog would sleep in the vestibule but i feel like my lab would wanna be inside the tent. My worry is the dogs nails punching holes in the floor of the tent and or the sleeping pad. Anyone experience that?
The floor of my tent has patches all over it.
Started bringing a tarp for inside the tent.

I put a twin flat sheet over my pad...tie the corners on the back side top & bottom. Protects the pad from my terriers nails and from getting dirty. No issues with the floor and his nails are not short but he weighs in the low 20's. No playing in the tent and he knows what 'back' means.....go to the back and lie still. A small dog is like a heating pad when it is cold... :) A good dog is a wonderful companion.
