Can anyone recommend the simplest/quickest yet durable 2-3 person tent that is still compact enough to fit inside or strap down on the outside of a large pack? Hopefully one that has good life span. Will be used mostly in warm, western state summer nights

Thanks,

Mark

They are not mentioned a lot on here but I love my MSR Hubba Hubba NX. You can pitch it fly only, or roll the fly partially up for warm weather venting. They also pack really small. Mine has been really durable.

I don't think you could go to far wrong with a Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2 or 3. The two vestibules are nice and they have a lot of people that really like them, myself included. Most tents are going to be very similar in weight and time it takes to set up so there are lots of options. If you don't mind floorless, I highly recommend the Seek Outside BT2 (now the Silvertip). As simple as it comes and faster to set up than anything I've used. Stake it down, put up a pole and your done. Since your in warm weather you could really forget the tent and just get a tarp to only set up if you get caught in bad weather. 80% of the time thats what I do and never set up the tarp, just my pad and bag on the ground.

The big Agnes copper spur ul2 is perfect for 1 guy and gear. I had a hard time getting the rain fly snug down to the ground evenly, even on pretty flat ground. That frustrated me, and I'm looking for something new (possibly the previously mentioned SO silvertip)

I'm using a msr hubba hubba nx also and like it. I used it on opening weekend via just the rain fly and ground cloth. Simple and easy to set up, I attempted to use a tarp however after having difficulty putting it up in my yard I didn't want to struggle with it in the back country. I would also look at big Agnes tents too!

We use a Big Agnes Copper Spur and love it. 2 doors and two vestibules for gear. Super easy to pitch.

Another fan of the Copper Spurs. I have the UL2 and the UL4 and either will strap to the bottom of my pack. You can also save weight and use in fast fly mode as well.

I really like my MSR Elixir 3. Can't go wrong with it! We use it as a 2 man with a little room to breath

Can't go wrong with a Hilleberg. Very durable trustworthy tents, that will last you an eternity if you take care of it. The Nallo is a very good tent, and if you get the GT model the vestibule could fit another person or 2 peoples gear.
