Tent Stove in-line spark box/arrestor

We use on to help keep embers off the tipi. Haven't had any issues. You can probably find a better price if you look around. We bought one from Montana Canvas a couple years ago, I believe it was $39, for a 5".

Once you get a good fire and draft going there's kind of a suction thing going on. It should draw some fresh air in through all open spaces.

Thanks for the input. I was hoping the feedback would be such that the draft would take care of the smoke issue. I hadn't expected it to be totally sealed but the fit of the screen sleeve and the fit of some of the corners does provide some space for smoke to enter the living space.
Will put it to some good use.

The natural draft does tend to pull all the air in and up the pipe.

You might smell a little smoke when the fire has died, and the last of the heat is leaving the embers. That's when the draft would die.

I had one and had issues with it burping out smoke through the vent when wind would get around 20 mph outside. I contacted cylinder stoves and tried a new sealed heat box that helps produce more heat and also acts as a spark arrestor.
