Tent DilemmaFast Upcoming Colorado trip

Do you have a good backpack? Just saying, while 70lbs will suck 66 will suck just as bad. If you don't already have one I think your money would be better spent on a high end backpack as it will be the best comfort for $$ right now as with gear it gets expensive to cut just 1lb.

The limelight is a great 3.5 season tent IMO and will hold up pretty well in the snow. I would worry about some of the lighter weight options. I would let you borrow a REI half dome 2+ if you would like. It'd cut 2lbs off and I have used it in the snow.

After the rains we had the first week and the snow we had the last week I'm not going back to CO to hunt elk without a tarp and stove. Best 4.5# I've ever carried into the mountains.

Backpack is an EXO 3500. Carries the weight well.

Spent two weeks at 11500 early sept. got freezing rain every afternoon and really cold nighttimes, thinking we are gonna have a colder/snowier fall than we have had in a long while, the marmot sounds like a better play

I am hoping I don't regret not having a stove during O1 in a couple weeks.

Every single time I think of first rifle season the first thing that comes to my mind is 1984. October 15th Monday Night Football and the Snow Bowl. We drove down to town to watch the game and ended up driving back up to camp after the first quarter and it was already dicey. 3+ feet of snow at our camp that night at about 10,500 feet. I never do any of the rifle seasons without a stove, and my good sturdy wall tent.

I regretted not bringing the stove for archery season. In the high country you never know what mother nature will throw at you one day to the next. Expect the worse and prepare for it
