How would you guys feel about a solar powered energizer? I could see it having some advantages, but it also would suck if it didn't work in thick trees or if it was snowing on the solar panel.

What would be the advantage over D cell batteries?

I suppose that you wouldn't need to carry extra batteries. It is nice that the batteries are a guaranteed power source.

Would the EBG boxes be compatible with the UDAP system I currently have? Certainly should work I'd think, just swap out the boxes?

Can't find a weight vs the speedrite but looks like you can buy the EBG box from the manufacturer.

That’s not the one I have. The one I have is the backpacker model and is much lighter than that one.
