So I read the optics test on here and the information regarding the Trijicon Tenmile. I was originally looking at an NX8 but I hesitate to drop that much cash. Today I found a 3-18X50 MRAD SFP Tenmile that I can get for half the price of an NX8. From what I have read the Tenmile sounds dependable. My wife hates that I get discounted stuff because I usually settle. She thinks I should get the NX8. Is the NX8 reallly worth twice as much?

There's a reason NF is NF. They have earned their reputation. If you want a NF get a NF. Buy once, cry once and get exactly what you want. The most expensive way to buy is to buy the wrong thing, sell at a loss and then buy the item you really want
Would your answer change if you sold Trijicon products?

We can special order Trijicon. We stopped carrying Trijicon as their customer service attitude towards consumers (In our opinion) was less than enthusiastic. Their business model, again in our opinion, is geared towards Military contract sales and the left overs go to consumers as a "step child" end of the business.

My response is as it was written. NF is NF for a reason and the most expensive way to buy something is to buy sell and buy. If in your mind you really want a NF then no matter what you buy somewhere in the back of your mind you'll always wonder if the NF would have been a better option. Just my $.02

Your comment doesn’t address the truth in what Doug stated. It was a poor attempt at a cheap shot, at a dude who has a STRONG following on here for giving sound advice and being a straight shooter.

I’ve spent 2 decades behind glass with my ass on the line. NF over trijicon isn’t even a question.

I own both and an NXS. I have that exact tenmile scope, a 4-32x50 F2 NX8 and a 5.5-22x56 NXS. All three of those scopes are awesome. The glass in the tenmile is really good, maybe even better than the NX8, definitely better than the nxs. On paper it is only a few ounces lighter than the NX8, but in real life the tenmile feels a whole lot lighter, which makes me happy since it was going on a lightweight mountain rifle. The turrets on the NX8 and NXS are better imo, but the tenmile is fine. I haven’t beaten any of them up too much - the NXS was on a 6mm that went through hell and back on a spring bear hunt and held zero just fine. I don’t think you will regret buying the tenmile, even if it wasn’t at the sale price you are getting it at.

Also, the NX8 eyebox is a little weird, the tenmile has way way more eye relief at all magnification levels. I can’t believe how forgiving it is. Illumination is better on the tenmile - its daylight bright, which I wasn’t expecting and looks really good with both green and red.

I can't speak to the Tenmile but I just bought a NX8 and I am selling my Trijicon CredoHX. Like Doug said I am taking a loss when I should have just bought the Nightforce.
I guess everyone is different, but I find the eye box and eye relief a non-issue on my NX8. I also find the glass to be better than the Trijicon Credo, but the Tenmile may use better glass.

I have/had both. I would take the Tenmile as far as glass, eyebox, parallax and illumination over the nx8. The NX8 probably wins on durability but I also haven’t broke a Tenmile yet so that’s just a guess. Also depends on if your cool with SFP on the Tenmile.

Sure. He has a strong following and gives good advice... as long as it's a product he sells. I've consistently seen him only recommend his products (of course) and nothing else. I'm not really knocking him, because he should be repping his store. But take all recommendations with a grain of salt when he has a personal stake in them.

Who isn't going to push what they sell? Take a look at the store, there is a ton of product. He could carry Trij but doesn't for reasons he stated. To me that says something. He also doesn't carry Vortex, even though he could sell a shit ton based on their popularity. Again that says something.

He's recommending NF over Trijicon, pretty certain that would be the majority of opinions if one asked.

Doug is straight up, you ask for budget, he'll help. Ask for high end, again he's there with help.

Let it go.

Grain of salt?? Hey bud, I'm not here to argue, I have better things to do. I will say, your point is fair-hell, you could probably dig up some of my posts when I was new on here basically saying similar things. However, in this case your wrong.

For example-
I called Doug on Friday, told him I'm a rockslider. I had credit card in hand to purchase a pair of $3k binos. When he asked what I use now, he then told me "Don't bother-you won't see any noticeable upgrade. I'm not trying to be a bad salesman, but selling you something just to make a sale isn't how I run my business."
I then brought up a spotter that I get at a great discount for MIL/LEO. I asked him to compare it to the product he carries. Once again, he gave it to me straight, and told me to buy the optic I was referencing.

This is the type of guy he is. I asked him some other free advice optics questions, and we ended the call without a dollar exchanged.

If you stick around long enough, you will see Doug's credibility is second to none.

And yet you wrote a novel to argue.

Anyways, get the NX8. Your wife gave you the green light, it's tested, durable, and you want it. If you were serious about being price conscious and/or better hunting reticle choices, then there are other comparable scopes - the Tenmile being one.
