Don't get me wrong, I see it was windy a few places yesterday/today for a bit, but this boarderline scare tactic reporting here

Might be best to just come on out and see for yourself and really get a feel for what living in 65mph winds is like.

I just watched a video of a guy in Cody whose cinder block wall/fence was blown over yesterday. I can assure you it’s no scare tactic-it’s the real thing.

I know...its windy, more so in some places than others...we've been over this few times in this thread in I think. Ive been there and other places in the west when its whipping 60-70+, I get it.

My statement was pertaining to the "144 mph category 4 hurricane winds" reported at the top of an 11,000 ft. peak as if thats what everywhere out there was exposed to.
Sure, its impressive, but not representative in any way of whats typical across the state or even what came through last couple days across large swath of western states. Not to throw shade at the100mph+ stuff over that large of an area, thats pretty crazy. Its also not like everywhere saw 144mph winds like so many news headings make it sound like.
Perhaps click bait would be a better term for it than scare tactics.

The wind here in Montana yesterday wasn’t nearly that bad. I don’t think the gusts were much over 100 mph, and for 5 or 6 hours, I would say the average wasn’t hardly over 60..

Short of the fact that its been an abnormally mild fall/winter thus far Id have to respectfully disagree with most of this based on personal research and experience thus far.
Plenty of price drops and sales under asking price going on last 2 years. Seen it first hand in comp sales reports pulled for preaporavals and properties we requested them on. The ones not selling are typically listed way too high hoping for one of those Californians you speak of...but that market has largely dried up in last couple years, at least compared to what it was 2020-2023.

The weather is the weather. Far from the whole state sees the patterns/temps you speak of and everyone Ive personally spoken with about the weather in areas we've traveled says the same.
It can get bad for short stints anywhere, but weeks on end of -30 and 60mph winds is not the norm anywhere we are looking. Ive been actively watching/logging weather in all our areas of interest for a few years now on a week to week basis, so I know whats going and where in that department.
As for tags, try drawing a 'decent tag' in Wyoming as a non resident without a decades worth of points...I get its gotten a bit tougher and big game is not over the counter like all the eastern/midwest whitetail and turkey tags are...but thats all you got to the east...whitetail and turkeys maybe Blackbear a pigs to the south a bit.
WY residents still have some of the easiest/best odds access to some of the best and most diverse big game hunting opportunities in the lower 48. I dont think there is much valid argument to counter that. Hunting opportunities would be a perk of residency though, not a primary motivation or reason in my situation.

As for tags, try drawing a 'decent tag' in Wyoming as a non resident without a decades worth of points...I get its gotten a bit tougher and big game is not over the counter like all the eastern/midwest whitetail and turkey tags are...but thats all you got to the east...whitetail and turkeys maybe Blackbear a pigs to the south a bit.

That is not the case for mule deer tags. We hunt G and H as General and Non Residents are burning 12+ points to hunt what we can over the counter.

We don’t draw… back to square one.
I have drawn one decent (not great) elk tag in five years. I have drawn zero deer tags I have put in for in five years.

today is the fourth day of the past five with high wind adviseries and restrictions on campers and tractor trailers on the highway.

Last week there were 19 trailers blown over on the interstate… in one day.

If you need any more convincing, my freezers are stuffed to the gills with so much big game meat it will take a focused effort to eat it all and my carpal tunnel’s from so much meat cutting has really been annoying. I can only imagine what it be like if we actually filled all of the tags we still have.
