Technical/Mountaineering Clothes for Hunting?

My wife just picked up the plasma lt... how warm do you feel the Atom lt is? How does it compare to the hunting puffies like FL etc?

The atom lt is very comparable to sitka kelvin lite with 60g synthetic insulation and powerstretch sides.

Atom AR is closer to a first lite uncompahgre.

Agreed that not all gore shells are the same. Gore pac lite isn't standard Gore which isn't Gore pro. Does sitka make anything using gore pro?

The face fabric makes a huge difference in durability and resistance to wetting through as well. Arcteryx is very clear on what they use in their product specs, sitka is not.

If you call them, they will shoot you straight, I believe the stormfront uses Pro, the cloudburst is their regular stuff hence the price decrease, I'm not sure about the dewpoint but I'd guess paclite though.

I'm sure someone here has intimate knowledge that can correct that if it's incorrect.

I am not wealthy enough to have dedicated hunting clothes and separate mountaineering clothes. So I have a mix of both. I wear Patagonia soft-shell pants and an R1 Field Pullover hunting. Smart wool base layers and a Firstlite puffy.

I do not bow hunt so camo is less of a concern. If I am picky and wait, almost every mountaineering brand makes some sort of neutral or earth tone color.

Arcteryx atom LT is my "go to" insulating layer. I will use my Eddie Bauer down if it's really cold. Mountain hardwear used to be great until they changed their sizing away from an athletic fit to the pear shaped body fit. My best rain shell is an eVent jacket that's not made by any hunting company.

I don't really own any hunting brand stuff besides a kuiu rain jacket and some FL base layers. I have yet to see a single company put out a whole line of gear that either fits me or fits my needs, so I use all kinds/brands most of which are non hunting clothing. I would also like to know what gore membranes sitka uses in there various shells, maybe they don't advertise it because 400$ for a pac-lite shell is insane. If you are looking into gore rain gear for sure go with something made with pro shell as I believe it is superior in both waterproofness and longevity and has outlasted multiple lessor gore membranes I've used in the past.

I think the Atom lt is plenty warm for cool mornings/evenings during september archery over just a light shirt (llano or chama). For October I wore it only in the mornings and evenings but over a good fleece (halstead from First Lite). In November I throw it on whenever I stop for a bit to glass over whatever else I'm wearing. Dead of winter I can wear it while being active depending on how cold it gets.

It's got 60g of insulation, so it should be similar to the First Lite Cirrus, but not as warm as an Uncompahgre.
