wondering if anyone knows off hand what the db levels of the tbac dominus cb is with 6.5cm? Can find the gen 2 ultra 7 levels. But only finding 308 db levels for the dominus and a general reference that the dominus is 2db quiter then ultra 7 but assuming that means just to 308. Since the ultra 7 comes in 308 or 6.5 and their db levels are caliber specific wanting to know if the dominus being a 308 can gives up alot when using the 6.5. Would ask tbac but honestly last time I ask questions it took like a week, which also honestly because the are never in stock at silencer shop probably wouldn't matter in long run other than my impatience at "knowing".

My curiosity was peaked to today when comparing another can that 6.5cm levels "at ear" were 140 while 308 levels were only 130.

I think DB levels are more or less just a rough reference point. There is so many variables - barrel length, powder charge, speed, etc. that can influence it. I think that is why most companies all post the generic .308 DB levels so that you can compare apples to apples and assume that anything else would be scaled appropriately. I would assume if they say the dominus is 2 DB quieter with a 308, then it is likely close to that with a 6.5.

I can't see how a 6.5 Creedmoor would be 10 dB higher than a .308. The 6.5 Creedmoor uses a similar amount of powder, and a smaller projectile. At most, a 6.5mm projectile might be ~1-2 dB higher out of a 7.62mm endcap than a 6.5mm one, which is essentially unnoticeable to the ear.

What's more likely is that they accidentally put the muzzle dB rating for the shooters ear on the 6.5 Creedmoor.

I would imagine that the 6.5 Creedmoor will have very similar suppression levels as the .308. Within a dB or so. Ray Sanchez (TBAC employee), has a bunch of suppressor testing videos on his YouTube channel. I couldn't find one that specifically tested the Dominus with 6.5 Creedmoor. But you can search through his videos and probably get an idea of how 6.5 cm compares to .308 in different suppressors.

Thanks guys, I have a message to the other can's manufacture cause 10db difference does seem pretty extreme. As for wanting to know about the tbac dominus, I'm totally fine with a rough number I get there are so many variables its impossible to know your gun without measuring and then weather/elevation affects that too. I just wanted to know in there testing was a 6.5cm out of a dominus +/-~2db from a 308 or was it 5+ basically

my Dominus on my 24” 6.5cm is ridiculously quiet. My 20” 7saum is hearing safe but barely, you can just tell. The 6.5 cm with the longer barrel is significantly quieter.

The Dominus and .30 Gen2 Ultra 7 have roughly (within 1dB) the same performance on 6.5CM. When the Dominus first came out we were on Gen1 of the Ultras and the Dominus was quiter than the Gen1 Ultra 7 but the Gen 2 Ultras closed the gap to where the Dominus and Gen2 meter the same. The Gen2 Ultra 7 is also lighter than the Dominus and has shorter barrel length restrictions on magnums vs the Dominus

I use a Dominus CB on my 20” 6.5 Creedmoor and it is incredibly quiet at the shooter’s ear. I don’t have equipment to measure the decibel level but it most definitely hearing safe and much quieter than my Dead Air Sandman K on the same rifle.

I have used my Dominus on a 28" and a 18" 6.5 creed and it is hearing safe on both. I also use it on a 10.5" and 18" 5.56. Not hearing safe on the 10.5", but it make it a pleasure to shoot compared to a linear device.

Length is not much different,od isn’t much different, hard to believe 1 db difference, why even make it then?
