Went and picked up a bull mount recently. Great work done by the local taxidermist. I noticed he had fixed the cut ear the bull had. Not a big deal, but kinda liked the thought of having the original cut ear mounted; showing his warrior background. Made me wonder if it was a fix due to thin hair or missing hair after the tannery? Got me wondering what do you guys prefer? Original cut ears or “fixed” ears?

Original ears. I always used ear liners instead of bondo. I was never very good at making nice bondo ears so I just removed all the cartilage. I had to replace a whole ear one time on an elk. It had a fresh injury and had maggots in the ear. Every bit of hair inside and outside slipped. Sewed a new ear on that was identical in color. I did this one after I talked to the customer about it first.
