Any tax advice I get from this thread will probably end up in an audit and jail time. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Just finished my taxes today. I own my own ranch/wildlife services and consulting business so I get LOTS of 1099’s. Fire away if you think I may be able to help.

I highly recommend not filing taxes to begin with. WTH is a 1099.
It’s the form that gets filed that tells the irs how much someone paid you during a year. How they track people who are not employees getting paid. Say you win $1000 at a casino, the casino will file a 1099 and send you a copy. Same if you do side work for someone who has a business. That way the irs knows you got paid and you know how much to claim as income on your taxes. Threshold used to $600/year.

Since when?
Sorry, you might get a W2-G instead Of a 1099 depending on how they pay you. Threshold is $600. Knew a guy who ended up bankrupt because they took all the winnings and couldnt pay at tax time. Was bigger jackpot, $35k.
I believe if someone has to send you a 1099 it’s due by the end of January.
