Looks pretty slick. I'm actually eyeing that new silpoly version that's only about 3 oz heavier than the DCF version. I'm wondering how much that will run.New models of the MLD Solomid was just announced:

The Owyhee is smaller. I almost picked that one up with my BlackOvis rewards right before they went out of business.Depends on where you hunt and camp, but the argali’s have a big foot print. Can’t get them up where space is tight. Something like slingfin tarp has a smaller footprint.
Those look pretty sweet. Thanks for posting that. I forget about mld sometimes. The Solomid pro may be the ticket for me.New models of the MLD Solomid was just announced:
looks like a decent 3 season set up. I’m going to bet when they list the price of the DCF version it might change my mind. It’s up on their site now but without pricingThose look pretty sweet. Thanks for posting that. I forget about mld sometimes. The Solomid pro may be the ticket for me.
Yeah. DCF is a little rich for my blood anyways. Especially with only a couple ounces saved. If I’m using a bivy tarp setup it’s early season and I will be running light on other things anyways.looks like a decent 3 season set up. I can understand why it’s so expensive- in the case of the MLD it’s 50% weight savings. But to your point, unless I’m sheep hunting I’m not getting that far down on cutting weight.Yeah. They must have taken it down. I don't see it now.looks like a decent 3 season set up. I’m going to bet when they list the price of the DCF version it might change my mind. It’s up on their site now but without pricing
Guess I happened to click at the right time. Just went back to the link from this morning and it’s goneThey must have taken it down. I don't see it now.
10.3 oz for silpoly vs 7.2oz for DCF. Not sure where you got the 50% savings from. Personally that’s not enough to justify the extra price. I could get multiple extra trips in a year for those 3 oz.I can understand why it’s so expensive- in the case of the MLD it’s 50% weight savings. I’m curious why the MLD would only be considered 3 season vs the argali being a 4 season, but I guess the only way to figure that out is a late season rifle.
I thought I read it’s 7.2 with the bug netting, 5 oz without. But maybe I read it incorrectly.10.3 oz for silpoly vs 7.2oz for DCF. Not sure where you got the 50% savings from. Personally that’s not enough to justify the extra price. I could get multiple extra trips in a year for those 3 oz.
I agree if I was being a weight weenie for a sheep hunt or something I may consider it. Also you can stuff the silpoly making it easier to pack. I hate folding and rolling.
The current Solomid XL is 14-16 oz. So it is close to a 50% reduction. I don't know if the Solomid Pro is the same size.10.3 oz for silpoly vs 7.2oz for DCF. I think the Silpoly option for 10.3 oz is the only way to go. I like the way Silpoly works and how you can stuff it as well. For me it's not just about weight. It's about volume in the pack and ease of use.10.3 oz for silpoly vs 7.2oz for DCF. Not sure where you got the 50% savings from. Personally that’s not enough to justify the extra price. Looks like they stopped making that model. Its a shame it looks like it was a good option. There isn’t much info out about these tarps, even less on hunting forums. I recommend it constantly in posts but usually seem to get lost in the main hunting brands. I’m here to tell you this is THE best lightweight tarp out there.
It is more or less a flat tarp with doors. …doesn’t sound interesting?…. Well what that means is that you can do most of the pitches you would want to do with a flat tarp, while also having the ability to close off the sides to keep wind and rain out. Yes, you can pitch flat tarps in ways that accomplish this, but you sacrifice a ton of space. For 17oz, you...

This is the tarp I use. That an a Borah Bivy is like 22-23 ounces, and you can fit one or two other people.
Yeah I just rewatched the video to make sure I hadn’t misheard the specs.I thought I read it’s 7.2 with the bug netting, 5 oz without. But maybe I read it incorrectly.
And you’re right. To me it’s interesting but not something I have a big need for.
They call it the Puptarp now, they will sew the panel pulls on for $20 or so. I used it last season, worked out good. Had it in 25-30mph wind and it held up good.Looks like they stopped making that model. Its a shame it looks like it was a good option.
