Interesting, we're you guys able to hold groups at that yardage? Or was one hit good enough?I worked on M1 Abrams for 20 years. The sighting in is boresighting and "screening" which is zeroing is hitting a 175 cm circle at 1500 meters, which works out to 1.2 mil accuracy.
Hahaha it's always the "if I do my part" that let's me throw out all the flyers. Don't hurt my perfect 3 shot group.I wonder if there if there are tank operators somewhere saying "my tank is 1/2 moa all day, if I do my part".
They would fire multiple shots to verify the zero. It's a surprisingly accurate weapon, and the zeroing process is quite complicated to take advantage of that. I'm sure it's upgraded now, but the last ones I worked on had an effective range of 5000 meters, which was kind of limited by the LRF more than anything.Interesting, we're you guys able to hold groups at that yardage? Either way, I'm surprised that it's capable of doing that repeatedly. Off hand, do you know what the effective range is on those tanks?
What is so cool about lighting an island on fire?when i did naval surface fire support (i.e. 5" gun bombardment of shore), we had to hit specific targets, but i don't recall ever being told the size of those targets. We did accidentally light an island on fire, that was pretty cool.
It better be, considering how much it costs. It's a surprisingly accurate weapon

The computer takes into account the angle the tank is sitting at, cross wind, movement of both the tank and the target, atmospheric conditions, as well as factoring in the ballistic adjustments needed for the particular batch of rounds. It's crazy to see how the turret and barrel jumps to put all those factors into place right before the round is fired.I have a buddy that was a tanker, and just yesterday we were talking about this kind of stuff. He was explaining how the computer works it all out for all the constant changes on slopes etc.
Probably not burning islands.Bro, wtf do you think the purpose of the military is?
lol could be. I’d like to think burning wasn’t the main goal Thu.Sometimes that’s exactly what the military is for…
