Is the Tangent Theta worth the extra money over the night force or Schmidt and Bender? What is the advantage?

I appreciate the feedback, I was also considering the ZCO as well. But figured if jumping to that price it may be worth going with the TT.

You can't make a wrong decision with either. Or, just buy both ;-).

I replaced a 3-20×50 S&B pm2 with the TT 3-15H on my hunting rifle primarily for a better hunting reticle (The S&B had an H59). The TT is a little lighter as well.

I really like the TT. It functions well, I managed to drop my rifle out of my truck seat onto gravel while pulling out another piece of gear this season, no zero shift, so I guess we can call that a test as well.

What I don't like about it is you cannot read the turret settings when they are "locked" and the rev indicator is only visible from above the scope. So while I'm sure it's a super nifty mechanical design, its functionality equivalent to mounting a speedometer on the trunk of your car.

All in all I like the scope.

Thank you all for the feedback. My gun builder has both in stock and it sounds like I can’t go wrong with the ZCO or TT.

I’ve actually owned and used both. So obviously take it with a grain of salt from an internet stranger, but as a stranger with actual experience. I got rid of the 4-16 ATACR fairly quick. I still have the TT315M. I’ve had zero issues mechanically, and the Tangent is superb optically. The Tangent is superior to the ATACR in every way.

This season, my Tangent bounced around in my truck for hundreds (plural) of miles on washboard gravel and hundreds (plural) of miles on unmaintained two tracks.

Here’s the last 5 round group before season (factory ammo, from a light-ish weight magnum)

Here’s a link to seven (7) 3-shot groups, shot on different days, with the suppressor taken on and off in between. My 20+ pound range bag regularly slides off my back seat directly onto whatever optic is on the gun(s) I’m taking. Nothing I’d claim as a tEsT, but people around here might think so, LOL.

The “eval” referred to above is entertaining, but that’s about it. Notice someone else drop tested a tangent at the end of that thread but was told it wasn’t dropped right. Someone else said their ATACR lost zero, and was told they were wrong. The data in the thread does not backup statements made. It’s kinda a mess honestly, but some are into it.
And if you actually read that eval with an open mind you would see he said it's a sample size of exactly one and is statistically irrelevant until others are tested.

I would look at the TT315 LRH also if you plan on it being primarily a hunting scope. The locking/free spin dial system is great in my opinion and while I don't love the reticle I do think it's great for hunting, just leaves a little desired for shooting ultra small groups at 100yds. I have used one quite a bit as I set it up on a family members rifle I built out with a prefit barrel and now I am really wanting one, cannot speak to the durability yet though. The weight is a huge plus of the TT but I will also admit I am leaning slightly towards the ZCO 4-20 after the negative findings from the review done by Form. Hopefully he'll review a ZCO in the future.

Also I have quite a few NF scopes including an ATACR, an NXS and two NX8s. All are great but each leaves me desiring a little bit of a combination of the 3. The NX8 zoom range is just a little much and parallax is a tad finicky, the ATACR is heavy and the NXS has an exposed windage.

SB 5-20 ultra short
ZCO 4-20
TT315

All great scopes. Pick your poison. I am not a big fan of TT. For my eyes, the TT was not worth the price premium. I find the glass a little “cool” for my eyes. I prefer the image to be warmer. Not a knock on TT…just a coating issue and how my eyes interpret the image through it.

I am currently running the SB 5-20 with MSR reticle on my hunting rig. Works fine, good glass. A Little heavy.

I also have had the NF atacr 4-16x42 with the Mil-R on the rifle for a while. To be honest, I think the atacr is a better package on a hunting rifle. Good glass, durable, lighter, and easier eye box. I may switch back to the atacr.

Side note: I am a big SB fan and run the 5-25 on my other rifle.
