Hello everyone, I just purchased a Tikka T3x in 7mm rem mag and not using a muzzle brake . I am a huge fan of Tally lightweight rings and have them on several rifles without issues. This rifle is a lot lighter than my other rifles and a magnum caliber. The scope weight comes in at 19 ounces. Has anyone had issues with them loosing up on the Tikka's? I want to keep this rig lightweight for Elk. Hope you guys can help.

I have Talley Lightweight rings on a Tikka T3 .300 WM shooting 215 grain bergers without a brake. Have never had any issues with them coming loose. I wouldn't worry about it one bit if you torque them to spec.

Mine stay tight when properly lok-tight'd and torqued. Never been a big fan of their fit and finish, though.

Would recommend lapping them to minimize rings marks on your optic, and increase the contact area between ring and scope.

Just picked up a new tikka t3x in 7 PRC and will be running the tally rings as well. I'm having trouble finding torque specs for mounting the ring bases to the receiver. Have seen some listed at 20-25, and others as much as 65 in-lbs. What are you guys running? Where do I find this info? Can't find it easily through Tikka and seems like most rings suggest different torque specs.

I’m just some guy on the internet, but I’ve never seen 6-48 receiver screws be spec’d at over about 20-25 in lbs at most. I’ve seen 65 in lbs referenced on rings to pic rails, not receivers. Much, much bigger threads on those. Call Talley and ask would be my recommendation if it doesn’t say it right on the blister pack.

The baby screws to the receiver that talleys rely on are typically spec’d around 15 in/pounds. Pic or dovetail clamping screws are what get 50+ in/lb.

Edit:

No reason for tallys on a tikka. Not when you can get these or sportsmatch for $80

are we liking the Hyperlites? I know they’re newer and I’m curious if they’re holding up. Another ongoing related thread where people are questioning them: https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/new-tikka-ring-option-from-warne.409010/page-2#post-4204946

seems from the recent thread and others experience with other lines of the hyperlites they are still not proven

Edit: I was going to try them, but I’m 3 sets of Sportsmatch in, and no issues

That makes a lot more sense, thank you!

Maybe there’s no need, but is there any reason not to use them? I’ve always had good luck with Tally’s but I’m no expert. Do the hyperlites you suggested, or even seekins or night force rings at around $200 offer that much more? I primarily hunt and don’t shoot a ton so forgive me if that’s a real dumb question.

I don’t disagree. But compared to Talley, I’d take my chances on a new warne product that uses the existing dovetail and a recoil pin.

Sportsmatch TO-84 are an economic alternative. In addition to reliability the offer more adjustment up and down the dovetail to get the best scope placement.

Thanks Gypsy! Just read through most of that thread and feeling like I might need to try something else…

I bought some American Rifle Company rings on the recommendation of PRS shooters and I'll use them from now on. Simple and easy and tight.

new update: after a winter season on the sled of the skidoo for my 30-06 the talley rings slipped and damaged the body of the leupold vxIII 2.5-8x36 and one screw on the top was missing. needless to say the leupold and the talleys reached the garbage bin ...

why on earth i will listen the people here about using spormatch rings and avoiding leupold as well lol ...
