Tally rings for Tikka T3x

I have a couple sets of those zeiss rings(30mm) to list... Generally recommendation from RS and S2Hunt for tikka is to use the dovetail on the receiver with Sportsmatch or the more $ UM rings. I’ve got a set of Hawkins rings that are “Talley style” screwdown attachment on my .223 and so far they’re fine at around 1200rds but I still wouldn’t trust them in the field and will stick with Sportsmatch TO-84 or the UM’s

I use gear hard, maybe bordering on unintentional abuse. If you are set on talleys you likely will never have a problem if you don’t drop it on the rings or optic on rocks. Occasionally a cracked ring cap has been known to surface.

There are much more robust mounting systems but Talley lightweights definitely are clean looking.

I’ve consistently torqued Talley base screws to 25-30 in. lbs. on tikka actions. I run lock tight on all threads and nail polish or paint pen all fastener heads and dabbed at scope tube to ring interface and base to action interface. If there is a failure with this installation procedure you’ll have to have either sheared the base screws or cracked a ring.

That said a quality pic rail and rings, UM dovetail mounts or sports match dovetail mounts are more robust mounting systems
