Taller fellers... do we really need a longer pad??

Going to snag my first sleeping pad, and I'm just wondering... will I need to pay the extra coin for a longer pad. I'm 6'-3", 195 lbs and I'm thinking that it might not be a horrible thing if my feet hang past the end of the pad. Before I buy, I thought I'd ask for some feedback.
I'm very much a side/stomach sleeper... which I think might be the difference.
Thanks in advance for the input!

I am debating this same thing, looking at an xlite neoair reg over the long wide and would love to save the weight and coin, I am 6'4 200# and side/stomach sleeper and always have my feet hanging off the bed at home. I currently run the long wide neoair trekker and I am thinking it isn't necessary.

I might pick one up and let my wife use it if it's too small

Big Agnes Q-core not the lightest but damn comfortable. Pack a little extra weight and sleep like a baby. I'm 6', 200lbs and sleep on my side and front and have never felt the ground. Added bonus is it's R value of 5. Half the time I just drape my bag on top and sleep right on the pad.

I'm 6'5",215ish. As long as it hits below my knee I'm good. On snow or really cold I throw my pack, extra clothes, whatever under my feet.In fact, at this point, being a side/stomach sleeper if I'm actually on a bed where my feet DON'T hang off it feels weird as sh*t.

I sleep better on a wide pad which seems to only be made in long. If I could find a regular length but wide pad I would surely give that route a try.

I am 6'8" 240 lbs and use the long wide pads--I have used the Big Agnes and NeoAir and like them both.

6'4 195 I have a Q core SL long. It is very comfortable and nice to not have my feet out on the cold ground. But I am also a quilt guy.

I'm 6'-2" 195 lbs and slept on shorter pads for years. Then I tried the large Neoair..... no going back to small pads for me. I personally sleep much better with a full size pad. YMMV

Im 6' 3" 180lbs and i feel like i take up the length of the neo air xtherm. It all depends on if you care about the weight penalty. If you don't care i think a person of any size would love having a large wide pad!

I'm 6-1 and have found that in cold weather my feet get cold with the regular pad. I would recomend getting the long so you have the insulation from head to toe, especially for snow set ups.

I'm not as tall as you guys but, I run a 3/4 length pad for weight savings. I don't mind it all, actually enjoy it much more than my previous big agnes.

6'1" I use the short pads to save weight. I could care less about length but a wider pad would be more comfortable.

6'2", for me the better nights sleep on a long wide pad easily offsets the weight penalty of the bigger pad. Especially when used with a quilt.
