Talk me out of buying a new rifle?

DM we can discuss. I am just north of you and you can come up and see my set up. I am in a similar boat. I want a sub 7.75 lb rifle. I don’t think it is possible unless you give up a dialing scope and factory stock.

I am chasing the weight due to a ruptured disc. I just bought a used 6.5 CM Tikka super light rough tech cut to 16”. I won’t make weight with my TBAC ultra 7 and S&B 3x12x42 Klassic if I go with the factory stock. I’ll be just over 8lbs. This means I need to drop to a Trijicon Huron saving 5 ozs or upgrade the stock at another $750 by the time I paid to get a Rokstock bedded. This is assuming I can even get one.

I believe the rifle needs to be 5lbs bare or you won’t make weight with a decent scope and suppressor. The weights listed on Eurooptics are off. You need to go with the weights on the Tikka website.

Once I add the 22 oz S&B and 4 oz rings I am overweight.
Looking at the stock I believe you may have a Roughtech Lite not a Superlite. They're listed at 6.6 lbs as opposed to the Superlite 5.94 lbs.

If you don't have your mind totally set on a Tikka (they're good rifles); the Kimber Hunter (also good rifles) weighs in at 5.5 lbs; removing the "gel" inside the stock shaves another half pound with about 20 minutes of your time and 0 cost. 5 lb bare rifle, less if you cut the barrel down.

Yep. I thought it seemed like a pretty good deal which is why all this came up. Pretty good deal?
Scopelist I think also had them same price .
Never liked the roughtech. Didn’t like the extra $500 for threads and a textured stock were worth it over the lites. But at $1000 it’s worth it.

It's 20" barrel and threaded, so wouldn't have to bother chopping it, but it's a weird thread pattern that comes with an adapter to make it 5/8. I think it's a good price which is what's killing me, I shop for rifles like a woman always "saving" money by spending more.
