Tagging a black bear on alaska moose hunt

If you're coming to from the lower 48 id recommend you get one even if the chances are low. Most of my bears have come while hunting for other species. With that said, I've never been out to bethel.

BTW, if Alaska would lift the silly guide requirement, I’d gladly help reduce the Brown Bear population.

I’ve shot 3 grizzly bears on moose hunts over the years. I’m a resident though.

I hunted unit 17 for moose and saw black bear all 3 hunts. Had a blackbear walk in and start eating the other end of the moose I was quartering up. Shot it at 20' with my buddies 375 rum the closest gun I could grab. Used a caribou tag on it. As a nores. I'm glad it wasn't a brown bear. They were thick out there. Had a brown bear steal 2 racks of ribs 1 hind quarter 2 days later.
