Tag Priorities

Or the reckoning and loss of future rights if you arent squared away on expectations with her. Id check with her and make arrangements that she is accepting of.
Kinda did that before we got married. I’d never be in a situation like that. She’s my wife, not my boss…

I think the new baby makes a huge difference, especially if this happens to be your first. Time with family far out weighs hunting IMO, but that is coming from a guy who deployed multiple times and missed a lot of time with my kids.
If it were me I would focus on Idaho and try again for CO next year. Like you said, it’s not a premium tag. If you were not having a new baby then I would go for it and hunt both states with focus on the Idaho tag. Life is good when you have these type of choices to make. Best of luck.

Thank you, hopefully I’ll have a good update/story come the end of fall.

If you end up needing more mountains, you can always return in the spring with a Turkey tag. Maybe grab one for your CO deer unit and get a feel for the land before you hunt it next year.

I'm sorta a selfish degenerate so I would tell you to go hunting. That said, I would focus on Idaho and decide if I had enough goodwill to go on both. I did 31 days one fall when my kids were 4 and 6. Certainly abused a bunch of goodwill with a very understanding wife that year. A decent number of selfish hunters end up divorced, likely not just because they want to hunt. Be on the same page with your wife. It will pay dividends.

if you want some input PM me I hunt both for deer every year and live in Idaho. With out knowing the units I cannot give you advice. Full disclosrie tho I have 5 deer tags n two elk tags n planning on hunting them all. I say hunt when ever where ever you can….
