Tacoma value these days?

2nd gens are well known for frame rust issues. This one has zero frame rust but has little surface rust on the aftermarket bumper, it was originally painted vs powder coated and the paint is peeling in a few places.

I’d list it for 10k and see what happens, it’s probably worth around 65-7500 it’s not going to command the same money as a v6 crewcab.

I’d spend $50 and clean that up, just makes one think if that was allowed to rust, then it looks bad for the rest of it, must be similar in condition one may think. Just doing a little TLC could really pay off.

My son sold his on Friday…’07 4 door long bed with shell, 215k.
He got $14,500…that’s $2000 more than he paid for it 5 years and 100k miles ago. During that time the only repair he had was a set of U joints.

Wish all my investments were that lucrative. Autos are generally thought of as depreciating assets - not Toyota trucks (especially 4-wheel-drives).

I didn't know 2nd Gen had the rust problems. I thought it was 1st gen that they warrantied the frame?
Second Gen definitely had frame rust...And flat leaf springs(recall).
Toyota is not friendly to existing owners.
They flat-out say 'We don't need to take care of existing owners, people will buy our cars regardless'.
That's exactly what they told me.
I sold a 2006 DC Sport with a 6sp manual and 186k miles for $13k in 2018 and felt guilty for passing it on to some poor sucker.
Toyota fans loose common sense when it comes to these things.
That car is $5500 if the frame isn't shot...Even then, someone will buy it.

It's worth more than that. It's the last generation of regular cab 4x4. It's a targeted item for some builders, and this one is a prime candidate.

@OP, I would jump on Tacomaworld forums and talk to guys that actually know Tacomas.

I totally agree, but those are hard to find and great rigs in the woods. I used to only want standard cabs, because they are so easy to get around in… my needs have changed over the years, but there are still people looking for the standard cabs that are increasingly difficult to find

I have considered going to a 1/2 ton and a dedicated woods rig, and one of those would be at the top of my list, gen 2 standard cab tacos are hard to beat.

I sold my '09 Tacoma regular cab......158k mi, 4wd, 4cyl, 5 spd manual, ARE shell.....back in August for $11,000. I was the 2nd owner. Truck was in the South it's whole life, so no frame or body rust. I'm in NC and a fella from upstate NY bought a one way ticket and flew down here to buy it, sight unseen.

Did the CEO call you to tell you that?

Common sense and sample sizes of one don’t go hand in hand.

Far too much money. Trucks in general have become outrageous - the bottomless economy stimulation over the last 3 years has really messed up the used truck market.

I’m pretty sure my 96 single cab Toyota wouldn’t fetch more than $3k. Its got a 4cyl, 5spd manual with locking hubs and a 6’ bed, but that 268k miles is daunting to most folks.
If it's straight and rust free, you could sell it for $3k with a blown engine.

People don't seem to understand that you can still repair and build Toyotas, even the newer models. They're not the same as the fully computerized, union-made garbage that has been coming out of Detroit the last 20 years.
