I am nearing a purchase of a new Tikka. Many positive comments on this site have helped me make the decision. I am torn between the stainless T3 lite or the T3 hunter. For those of you who have experience with these guns, is there any real difference other than appearance. The costs are similar.

the T3 lite stainless is, for the hunter, by far the better choice I think - the T3 "hunter" is blued CM with a wood stock if I'm not mistaken - usually the stainless lite is close to $100 more as well

Another option could be the stainless hunter or stainless laminate. I opted for the stainless laminate for a little extra weight (recoil), aesthetics and weather resistance.

My T3 hunter wood stock was not very durable. I ended up replacing it because the stock looked terrible after a while. I would go synthetic stainless

I appreciate the comments. I have ordered a laminate stainless. Looking for scope, bases and rings now. With this combo I will probably use silver/stainless. Any ideas or opinions would be appreciated.

I have a T3 lite in stainless. I bought DNZ game reaper base/rings and a Leupold vx3 cdss scope in black. I wanted to keep the weight down and this combo is very light and solid, can't say enough good about the DNZ product. The glass isn't the greatest on the vx3 but good enough....kinda wish I would've went with the Swaro Z3. To me stainless/silver scope and rings limit your choices too much and really don't look that much better.

PLEASE give us all a side by side comparison of the Leupold VX3 and the Swaro Z3 along with retail price ?

GK, That's apples to oranges. It was my personal decision to save the $400 and get the leupold. Nothing wrong with the VX3 at all I just wish I would've spent the $$$ and upgraded to the swaro for the better glass.
