So the sportsmatch T084’s are chronically out of stock.
I have a few Tikkas I am putting scopes on and didn’t want to wait, so with a little work, the T085’s can be made to work on Tikkas. All in this took less than 15 minutes per set, other than the trip to the hardware store.
The dovetail sizes are the same on T084 and T085. The only difference in the arrestor pins.
Here’s what I did:
1) Punch out the side arrestor pins on the 85’s and throw them out
2) Find the centre and drill tap the underside of the base for a set screw. I used a M5 set screw because that’s what the hardware store had. #8-32 would also work
Don’t drill through the cross slot holes!
3) Test fit and trim the screw so there is clearance between the bottom of the action recoil pin slot, then install with thread locker (probably not needed, but it’s cheap!)
4) Then just mount as per normal
