Picked up a nice used SWFA 2.5–10 recently and finally got around to mounting it.
Eyeballed the reticle at 6x, called it good, and then torqued down the ring screws. Checked it again and the ran it through the zoom range to make sure there was no binding and when I looked through it at 2.5 X it appeared that the reticle had canted clockwise just a little bit. I then turned the zoom ring counterclockwise to 6X while looking through it and saw that the reticle shifted back to 12 o’clock. I’d say it’s moving from 12 o’clock to 12:01, if that makes sense.
Anyone else experienced this phenomenon on this little scope? I don’t plan to use it on 2.5 X, but whatever power I use it on, I would need to turn past it clockwise and then come back to the number counterclockwise in order to get the reticle where I want it, or just creep up on it from a lower power. Haven’t shot it yet, so I don’t know if it stays put or not. Crosshairs seem to remain centered, so it’s not a big wobble - just a rotation.
I’m not the original owner so I would imagine that SWFA would charge me something to fix it. What say ye?
