Looking at putting together a light 7mm-08 to hunt with out to 500 yards. Rifle will most likely be a Christensen arms Mesa.

Looking at the specs, the min eye relief is 2.5”. I’m used to scopes like Leupold with at least an extra inch of relief on max power.

Does anyone have experience shooting the ultralight SWFA on guns other than AR platform 223?

The rifle would also be used by newer hunters and I don’t want them to get scoped and then become afraid to shoot the rifle.

I shot my left hand Forbes 20b in 7mm-08 this weekend for the first time. It’s has the lightweight swfa on it and it has me a little bit nervous to be honest. My Forbes has been lightened slightly so the whole package including scope is 5 pounds 9.5 ounces.

I only had some factory federal 120 grain fusions and some Hornady 139 grain American whitetail to try.

I never felt the scope touch me with the 120 grain ammo but did feel the scope barely touch above my eye with the 139 grain ammo.

I wasn’t holding the forend, I was just letting it rest in the sandbag so holding it might keep it from recoiling quite so far.

I still plan on hunting with it so I’ll let you know if I get cut😂

I imagine heavier bullets in a stout handload would cause the scope to hit me pretty hard

Another issue I have is clarity with this scope. I feel it is nice up until about 8 power. Anything over that and I’m not very impressed at all. It would probably be a better 2.5-8 scope than a 2.5-10. I have the new bdc reticle model and absolutely love the reticle. Very visible in low light
