Swfa turret reduction???

Whose had the turrets milled down on their SWFA? How much did you pay and who did you go with? I’d like to get my windage knob a bit smaller.

If you are talking 3-9s, which is what I think you have - you can't really take length off without busting in to that hollow area in the knob and separating the center from the body. A little diameter can easily come off the knurled part, but I don't' see that much bang for your buck there, since it would still be a long cylinder (just without being knurled).

If the void with filled with mill-able epoxy then you could mill some length off and round it, if you got really aggressive on removing length you would need a new screw.

I've been really tempted, I'm pretty good at that redneck lathe and file technique and have made/modified all kinds of stuff that way in the past. Thanks for the pic.

What is the current best solution for this? I’m tempted at this point on my fixed 6 to just leave the cap off and fix it in place in some fashion. Any reliable solutions for this?

I took a belt sander to the knobs on my 3-15 and then chopped off the windage turret flush with the housing and put a rubber chair leg cap over it. These fit perfect and suction on if you put a piece of tape over the hole.

For the top turret, I ground down thr csp with a drill.

For the side turret, I used a dremel to cut the stem right at the skinny part, where
The small o ring goes. Then i cut a slot for adjustment. I purposely left it a hair taller than the body, so I could use a knife in a pinch (as opposed to carrying a screwdriver or coin).

The cap is the perfect size and height (with large o ring removed.

The size is perfectly high because it doesn’t touch the stem (so you can inadvertently turn the stem if you turn the cap)

1” inch caps fit 10x and 6x
