SWFA Black Friday

12x and 16x
Shipping charges were reasonable. I’m not buying shit from a 3rd party vendor because I can’t afford $10 in shipping.
In this case, that third party vendor is part of the sale/deal with the 3-9x turrets on SWFA's site, so I'm not paying shipping and tax just to say I bought from SWFA direct.......

I currently own milquads in the 6x old and new versions. 10x old. 10x SF old. 3-15 old and new. 3-9. 5-20 illum and non. I’ve previously owned a 10x HD. I’ve tried most of them is the point.

It’s a little bit of a dead horse situation at this point in this thread, but the one Kenton has is the only one I feel the need to needlessly hoard. The 3-9 is my jam. At $599 it’s the second best value in the rifle scope universe. At $499 it felt like a sin to not buy a couple spares.

The 5-20s are readily available in the used marketplace for $750-900 which to me is the most scope per dollar a fellow can get. But for hunting rifles, 3-9 every time.

What area of the country are you hunting? Would you suggest moving to the 3-15 at all if the use case was more target/training?

I bought the 3-9 today, first SWFA.

The 3-9 is the scope I recommend to anyone asking what to buy for a hunting rig. The 6x is the one I can hand anyone and they can focus on shooting rather than messing with the zoom. My only regret is not buying more when they were $199

Personally the 6x gen 2 is the one I’ll buy anytime they come available despite how many I have on hand. I would only change my tune if they came out with a 8x.

I’m pretty pleased that my order has already shipped. The benefits of insomnia. I have my first 3-9x and a 10x gen2 on the way. Which will put me well into double digits for SWFA scopes. I will probably have to let one or two go once the dust settles with my rifle sales.

Same, set an alarm for midnight to grab one just in case and I already see a tracking number this morning.

For $499, everyone should buy a 3-9X SWFA. It's not perfect. The exposed windage turret and fish eye image below 4X annoy me. That said, it's a helluva scope for virtually any rifle/cartridge combo.
Having a covered or shortened turret option like the 3-15 was where I was really struggling. I like having options to customize. Wish they could offer that somehow for the 3-9.

The 3-15 is great. I have them on our .22LRs. If I feel I need parallax adjustment I reach for it or a 5-20. If you decide you want more power in a milquad I’d recommend keeping an eye out for the latter which can be had for about the same money. To my eyes my sampling of those have had the most favorable view of any of the SWFA scopes I’ve tried.

How much does the 5-20 weigh and how big is the lens?

This is what held me up the longest too, I wanted to have the turret options... but for the price I'll deal with it. I can tape the windage knob in place (which I do with my NF, zero issues) and will look into the shims to create zero stop. The goofy tall turrets will just have to be what they are.
